Hey Guys;
I recently had a DD Kenmore 80 series given to me.
The problem w/ this machine is, when it stops spinning, I mean it STOPS. This to the point of banging the tub into the cabinet.

I have never done anything w/ this type machine, is there some adjustment that is needed?

Any assistance/suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks ! !
Al :>

It could be one of two problems with these machines;

1. Could be broken or worn suspension springs.

2. Suspension plate pads needs to be replaced.

You'll need to get a manual to help make this kind of repair.
"Do it yourself repair manual for Kenmore Automatic washers" {Direct Drive}

It can be found on ebay from time to time or from your Sears repair/parts centers....

Good luck!

The brake shoes are too tight. You can either change the spring in the brake assy or squirt some oil up there.

I gave it a shot of WD-45, lo & behold, works like a champ!!!!
Thanks for the info

abrupt braking

Those of us with older Norge or Wards Signature washers are used to ABRUPT (and LOUD) braking of the tub :-)
