Hello,

I recently picked up a really nice direct drive machine but the machine doesn't spin. The owner said it was looked at by a repairman and they said it needed a clutch. Every direct drive machine I've taken in has needed no major work so this is my first dig in.

What should i be looking for a sock stuck between the inner and outer tub? What would cause the tub not to spin but the machine to agitate normally. It sounds like its just trying to spin but not able to turn the drum.

Any help much appreciated!

~Steven

Hey Steve,

The timer has to pause once to reverse the motor to neutral drain for 2 min and then pause again to come out of nuetral drain and start to spin the tub. If that is happening, and it is still not shifting into spin, then the tranny is at fault. The tranny controls the spin in the dd models. Does it spin slow, or not at all? If it does not pause then the timer is at fault.

Yep it pauses

The pause is working, you can see the basket trying to spin but the motor is working hard to move it but it won't budge.

Can you spin the tub easily by hand or do you meet resistance after it pauses the second time to shift into spin?
