Whirlpool-made GE SpaceMaker in good shape. These aren't equipped with Dual-Action agitators; a dark gray lint-filter Surgilator is all I see in "GEPool" machines...much more fun.

Shipping

Did anybody read about the seller's mis-givings about having FedEx coming to pick up and ship the washer? First off, he/she shouldn't be concerned about the "feasability" of having it shipped by a company like FedEx or that it would be damaged being in a box, that's what insurance is for, it wouldn't be his responsility. He doesn't think that a company such as FedEx or other shippers would know how to pack a major appliance? And how does he think it got shipped to where he bought it originally? It was shipped in a BOX!

GEpool

Wow, I can't believe GE went to the "enemy" to have a washer made for them. Going to Hitachi to make a portable like Westytoploader's is one thing, but going to WHIRLPOOL?!

GE seems to know that the "enemy" makes a reliable toploader.
I still like GE cooking products though,...but as far as laundry goes,WP makes the best toploader in the country IMHO.

GEpool

Agiflow - I agree 100% WP does make the better TL and GE is better for cooking. When I recommend people to buy appliances I tell them the same thing.

The venerable PLASTIC GE, IMHO the worst toploader design EVER...even worse than WCI Frigidaire. Why?

1. The plastic tub shakes back & forth violently during agitation, thanks to the "too weak to survive" tub brake. And if the tub brake fails during a large load wash, then YAY, clean floors!

2. There is NO consistent turnover whatsoever. The poor excuse of a Dual-Action agitator doesn't help. Not to mention BORING...

3. Filling it too high or spin-draining it will result in a flood...and clean floors!

4. They are annoyingly noisy, and 1 sock on the side of the tub will throw it off-balance during spin.

Why didn't they resort to the "concentric agi-tub" instead??? It's obvious that this design was drawn up in less than a day. I see more of these out in appliance store junk piles than any other machine...

Tappan made GE ranges

You are right goatfarmer,....Tappan i believe made their gas ranges in the late 80's before Tappan was eaten up by WCI.I know WCI continued to produce GE gas ranges up until about 89-90
GE has been making their own line of gas ranges for the last 14-15 yrs.
