Saw the new Oasis this weekend, and WOW. Definitely not a reworked Calypso nor Harmony. This is a brand new design of HE TL machine, and with the Kenmore name behind it, I suspect it's going to make a big impact on the industry. Like most Kenmore laundry products, I could tell from the model number that it is sourced from Whirlpool and made in the USA.

I don't have all the specs at this point, but the very first thing one notices when opening up the windowed lid of this machine is the capacity. 4.5 cuFt (IEC) - They call it "Cavern Capacity" That's gotta make it the largest capacity washer ever made for domestic use (I think, but certainly larger than anything else on the market now). It's EnergyStar qualified, has a stainless steel interior and has a straightforward, not-too-complicated control panel. There is no agitator, but it's not using the Calypso wash motion either. The specs on the product description card says it uses something called an "invisible agitator". Like other high end WP stuff, it employs WP's patented Catalyst Cleaning Action, which premixes detergent in the sump before distributing over the top of the load.

I can't seem to find any mention of this machine on sears website.

I don't either, nor on a Google search. Maybe it's just a rumor.

Now the thing that puzzles me is the fact that a new machine usually hits the website before it hits the stores. Take for example the new GE front-loader.

I wonder if such a machine exists...time will tell though.

Wow..really love the design on this washer. The bulky tops on the w/d remind me of the early KM/WP washers of the 50's. Too cool!

Interesting design but why on earth do the windows have to be so dark?

If the windows are dark-is there a light inside to light the tubs so you can see whats going on?Could it be they have a removable smoked panel so you could see better?Looks interesting-may need to check it out-You would think the display is setup to DEMO the machine so prospects can see how it works.Like a vacuum demo-its worth a thousand words.Usually Sears Kenmore appliance displays were setup to demo the machine shown-and very well.

The washer appears to be a clone of the GE Harmony. Nice looking set.

Another oversized impeller machine. I wonder if WP is making these themselves or if they are another rebranded Oriental import.

I did see the HE4t in "Sedona," and oh, I loved it.

I think it's a GE Harmony in a Kenmore skin. I have a Frigidare FL which is just like the GE Fl which is just like the KM Fl with the 2.7/2.9 cu in tub same machine different skin. I do like the windows on it but I want to see it wash first. I bet they are not distributing it yet across the nation. Where was the Sears that had the set in the pics?

Wow, it does exist!!! The control panel resembles the HE4t, IMHO. After looking at the impeller/pulsator/infusor as GE calls it, I'm willing to bet that the wash action is similar to the Harmony, especially since its capacity claim is so large. It needs to fill up with water, as that seemed to be the Calypso and Harmony's downfall.

But, impeller machines aren't the best on capacity; when they are overloaded to a certain extent, all clothes movement stops dead. I wonder how this one would fare...

Seems like a cool design though! Love the window lid...and I wonder how the action will look!

the washer lid and dryer door look like Maytags.I wonder if this is going to replace the NeptuneHE TL?????

What is with the holes in the "invisible agitator", better know as an impeller?

If they are not drain holes, I wonder if this is a recirculation water feed to wet-down the load.

All kididng aside, this would make great "lubrication" around the clothing to makes sure the (assumed) miserly amount of water helps keep the "Asian fan" HA HA impeller from again making this machine worthy of being called a modern shred-more.

It sure does like a modified GE Harmony to me, interesting. I should pop my head into the Deluxe forum more often.

Those holes in the "infuser" as they like to call it are for draining.

Isn't their an LG turbodrum washer that pumps a jet of water up through the center of the disk?

From the horse's mouth (Magic Clean) this is a washer made by Whirlpool in the Clyde Ohio top load awsher factory. Spin speed is 1000 rpms. As he says, "this is one of several awshers coming along".

Was at the San Francisco Bay Area Sears store in San Bruno (10 miles south of San Francisco) last Sunday and saw the Kenmore Oasis. Picked up a brochure on the washer and dryer. The brochure describes the machine using the Catalyst Cleaning Action and uses the gentlewash technology to clean with extra care. The low profile Invizible (tm) Agitator feeds clothes from the outside of the drum to the center and then to the top for a "reverse rollover" process. This ensures better and gentler cleaning and keeps all your fabrics looking like new wash after wash.
Does this wash action replicate a Philco washer?

Nope, pure impeller. If you watch the videos that Robert posted of his GE Harmony, you'll notice that it too does reverse rollover.

Looks to me like the move is away from (expensive) transmissions to a (cheap) motor-to-tub/impeller direct drive.

Well if one removes the agiator a TL can have near or more capacity as a front loader. How well it will perform is another matter.

If either Sears or Whirlpool claim to have "invented" this design will be the first to send them pictures of the small GE portable. Would love to see GE climb all over Whirlpool on that one.
