Since I have installed a new board in my Maytag Neptune, I now have a question which always puzzled me. I thought the 'Max Extract' only worked on the 'Cotton/Sturdy' setting(which is why I only use this setting because of the water extraction). But I just did a load on the 'Easy Care/Perm Press' setting with the 'Max Extract' button pushed and it seemed to spin just as fast. Before the new board replacement, the washer did not seem to go in to 'Max Extract' with the Easy Care/Perm Press cycle, Delicates, or Hand Washables. Only on the Cotton Sturdy cycle did 'Max Extract' function. How exactly does the push of this button affect other cycles besides Cotton/Sturdy? Do the other cycles(during the washing process) make a real difference in Fabric Care because of less tumbling?

Gary, from what I've been told, Max Extract has different max speeds for the different cycles. The different fabric type cycles do have different tumbling patterns, tumble speeds, as well as pause length before reversing. I am not sure though about water level difference, say for delicates or hand wash. |

Your MAH300AWW probable performs similarly to the MAH7500AWW. On the MAH7500AWW the Max Extract option works on every cycle. It increases the speed and/or time of the final spin, but there is a maximum spin speed that corresponds to the cycle (i.e. the Max Extract spin on the Cotton/Sturdy cycle is 1000 R.P.M., but only 810 R.P.M. on the Wrinkle Free cycle (Easy Care/Perm Press cycle).

Software changes
Thru the years and sofware changes the max extract has changed slightly. The older 3000 pre series 25 (if I remember) If you didnt select max the machine would do a series of bursts. This meaning speed up slow down and after about 3 bursts it would stay at top speed for the cycle you selected. If you DID select max it would do one burst then go to top speed for the cycle selected. Actualy the spin cycle was suppose to be about a minute shorter with the max selected. After series 25 the burst was removed from the max option. When they went touch control back in 2000 the burst was eleminated completly and max would also control top speed for the cycle selected as washaholic mentioned in the previous post. For those who have models pre series 25 who have their machine control replaced for what ever reason will have the latest sofware changes availble for the model 3000.
