Has anyone here played with/owned/own any of the new SQ equipment? What do you think? Good? Does the 710 spin work well?

If you're talking about the TL machines, I've used and reconditioned a few. The ones I've used have been the rebranded Kleenmaids.

The machines are very simple and do a great job, the long slow stroke agitator is great. Depending on the model some will fill and agitate with the lid up, other require the lid closed for all functions.

This machines however have crap lower seals.

Usually in about the 5-10th year, the seals around the drive shaft perish, and it starts leaking water.

Replacing the seals is an easy task, however getting the bearing off which is underneath is a real bugger. But if you dont replace it with the seals, they tend to fail from water damage later.

I've used a domestic SQ FL at the Laundromat. THey seemed ok, but not very large for the rated 8kg. I couldnt get much more in than I can in my Miele.

IIRC these are exactly the same as ours that are branded SQ or was it AMANA?

I have the ATS90 front load washer 1,000 RPM spin which is very good but I can tell the difference from my 1,200 spin on my Asko which did a bit of a better job of extracting. Not sure if it has anything to do with capacity as I can get much more in the SQ.

Overall I am very happy with the machine. I like how well built they are. There was someone on THS that got a SQ top loader and was very happy. He replaced a less than two year old Maytag.

We do sell them but I think we are going to quit selling them. They basically an Amana. I meen the amana with the old campbells soup can looking outer tub. Not a bad machine but they are a little over priced, compared to other machines in its price point for what you get. Unfortunattly like brisnat81 said the tub seals are only good for about 5-10. Usally I find 4-7 years is about it.

They are speed queen based machines. The early ones actually were sold at the same time as Speed Queen Marathons which had identical control panels. The Timers and such on the TL's are still identical to the Kleenmaids.

When they work they're great machines, but the leaking seal, causes the connector block between the motor and timer to short out (Its under the tub)and melt, or if there is enough water, the motor just shorts out and stops never to go again.

It might be a $2000 washer over here, but a seal kit is worth $220 plus 3 hours labour to DIY.

For $2000 I'd buy a Miele any day, or 4 cheapies.

Well that's too bad. You'd think for the price it would be at least last 10 or more years.

But after playing with Glenn's F&P, I think I know which washer to get when I move out. 1010rpm spin and lots of fun action.
