I want to install a check valve in the drain hose in my washer. My stand pipe is 7 feet above the floor. The purpose of the check valve is to prevent water in the hose from back filling into the washer. Will this valve work or can someone suggest a better solution. I intend to install the valve at the back of the washer where the hose exits the machine at it's lowest point.

Sounds perfectly reasonable and smart to me!

My main sewer line is 40 inces (1 meter) above the basement floor so the stand-pipe is about even higher- about 4 feet off the floor.

I get away without a check-valve
