The last thread asked for a second one, so please add on to this one.

This is my GE Filter-Flo, a 1994 model.

Martin

Post# 165653-11/6/2006-20:13 ||| 48bencix (Sacramento CA)

But it's a franken-flo

Look inside, it has a Hotpoint tub. I didn't make it, I got it at a used appliance store. I think this is the last year for Filter-flo, so maybe they used what ever parts they had. Or maybe the dealer put it together.

In any case, any filter-flow is fun. And it really gets out that dog hair!!

Bojack?

*Clutch the pearls*

I just love that machine!

Post# 165981-11/7/2006-21:21 ||| Toggleswitch (NYC & Long Island, NY)

Here is the second DW I grew up with, circa 1974/1975.
Sears Kenmore by D&M.

Of course, it has the requisite wood paneled front of that era.
Two position Roto-Rack (rotating round upper rack.)
Lights, oh so many lights

A red neon pilot over the timer.
2 x 10w bulos over the chrome rectangular buttons.
..and FOUR neons where it says in script "Water Temperature Indicator" These were:

~COOL
~NORMAL
~SANI
~DELAY

Power miser cool-dry selector switch and a fan to assist dry.

Gansky's NIB Sears portable DW reminds me of this one.

Post# 165982-11/7/2006-21:24 ||| Toggleswitch (NYC & Long Island, NY)

And just for total effect, a panoramic rear-view, to get a feel for the era and time-frame. *LOL*

oh and the racks were a pale "canary" yellow and the tub was porcelain.

Post# 165984-11/7/2006-21:29 ||| GadgetGary (Bristol,Connecticut)

Oh Steve,

I know that rear view from anywhere.......

Is that you before the sex change?????

Cross-pollinated thread joke, if you dont; *get* it, don't worry about it.

uh no, actually.
THIS is the sister who had the bow in her hair. LOL

LOL

Who ever she is/was,
she looks good!

(Nice DW, I've had about 5 of those, some portable. None had that cool 70s wood panel though)

:oD

Post# 166014-11/7/2006-23:12 ||| appnut (Temple, TX)

Steve, aside form the hot/cool dry option (offered at the very tail end of the series), that is the exact same model we had in the house in Houston. I believe bought late 1972 or early 1973. It was replaced by teh same GSD1200 as I have here in 1988.

Post# 166053-11/8/2006-05:18 ||| Toggleswitch (NYC & Long Island, NY)

Bob,

I still remember this machine fondly! Thanks for the info.!

The fan on mom's was exceedingly loud and vibrated. Had to shim it up with wood to keep it quiet. Did it push air in, or pull air out? I'm starting to forget.I think it used to pull air out which was was not good for the cabinets. Similalry there was an air inlet near the bottom of the door....

The fan pushes air into the dishwasher tank, around the heater and through the outlet in the door.

Here is the ebay pic of mine, just a little before Tog's (and his heart-shaped butt) had in the picture above...

Yeah, Roboraptor's a fun robot. He can be remotely controlled or put on "free roam" mode where he walks around and can sense noises and objects in front of him. This morning I put him on "Playful" mode to make him dance to music while I videotaped. Well, Dino, having a mind of his own found Helen's shoes and kept poking his head in and sniffing the shoes instead of dancing (all caught on video). A robot with a foot fetish... great :-D

Post# 166506-11/9/2006-15:13 ||| washertalk (Northborough, Mass.)

WHAT ?! ;-D

. a robot with a foot fetish? I won't believe it.

whats that small circle at the bottom left of the washer?

Post# 167111-11/12/2006-17:08 ||| jonv112 (Toronto, Canada)

It's the access port for the drain filter. It also lets you gain access to the emergency door switch, as Miele washers have an electronic door switch.

Wondeful your new Miele! It's a fantastic machine. I've just bought the Miele T7744 dryer and like everything that goes out from Miele works like a charm and it's expected to last for decades!

Post# 173523-12/7/2006-21:57 ||| arrrooohhh (Sydney Australia)

Similar but not the same.

The Simpson and Westinghouse have similar styling to F&P but they are not the same. The Simpson is a reversing motor style machine while Westinghouse offers a direct drive DC model.

Here is a picture of the F&P

Hoover.

Here is a Hoover Commander washing machine. Sadly these machines are no longer made. With their really long agitator strokes they were lots of fun.

Classic Design, classic look

Good machienes in my book

If my ex had one, i'd go find a (cough, cough) GE for him from Salvation Army and make this one out to be a real dog and make the GE out be soo great.... Then take this for me..

I am not nice to EX's am I???

Any way, great washer

Post# 175667-12/15/2006-01:52 ||| oxydolfan1 (Bergenfield, New Jersey )

Classic Whirlpool

My Whirlpool is identical to Gary's, except:

Mine has three water levels (Sm/Med/Lg)...

Mine has a temperature selector knob, no buttons (H/W/C)...

Mine has a "Super Surgilator" agitator (straight vane)...

Mine isn't a Supreme and has no bleach dispenser...I can't stand them anyway....

Can you see why I'd never get rid of it?

Especially when you see what they are selling, now?

Post# 175694-12/15/2006-06:30 ||| GadgetGary (Bristol,Connecticut)

My Whirlpool is identical to Gary's,

That machine belongs to the ex. It now sits next to the New Maytag Performa dryer that I bought for him last week(See 'Frustrated' thread in Super Forum).

I believe that the washing action is just way too fast. It goes into a slower wash towards the end of the cycle. But still does a great job.

Steve is going to adjust the water level since the water does not come to the top of the tub when it is set to Max.

Post# 175745-12/15/2006-10:48 ||| Toggleswitch (NYC & Long Island, NY)

LOL, I am?

Well at least your ex was happy that I solved "the linting problem" when I did his laundry at his place, while showing him how and giving lessons.

Can't really recommend "medium" water setting and a full tub of clothing, now can we? LOL

That boy has NO clue....
Gotta love him though for trying.

Post# 175834-12/15/2006-18:32 ||| oxydolfan1 (Bergenfield, New Jersey )

G-Wuzzit you that posted the pic of the Maytag Dependable Care washer recently? Can't find it, nor can I locate the machine (sigh)...

The Maytags I like better for somewhat gentler wash action...yes, I hear you, the whirling-dervish routine does get tired on the Whirlpool, and I do use the gentle cycle on it far more than on any of my other machines...

But it gets the job done, well, and quickly, with very minor problems. I will probably always make space for it.

Never have I had problems with low water level. (Shhhh.)

Going forward, I believe these machines WILL be bonafide classics.

Post# 175850-12/15/2006-21:24 ||| GadgetGary (Bristol,Connecticut)

G-Wuzzit you that posted the pic of the Maytag Dependable Care washer recently?

Scott,

What a memory. Yup. It was me! Steve and I got the DC Maytag together. He actually rigged the lid switch so that the washer would stay operational with the lid up. We had fun playing with that machine when it arrived.

Here is 'our' washer:

THAT'S the one, thank you!

I'm not happy with what I'm seeing with these Maytag "Legacy" machines that are popping up....definitely willing to pay more for the real deal (or something as close to that as possible...)

I have a couple of Maytag center-dial TLs in storage....alas no time or money to restore, yet.

I know it's a troubled brand, but, are all the others really any better?

Thanks again.....

Post# 176086-12/16/2006-20:00 ||| exploder321 (Montreat NC)

SO i know

This one is similar to the Old style maytags not the crappy newer ones???

My aunt has one that she's replaced everything but the water inlet valve and timer and it's only 4 years old!
