Those Asko machines are great - they're sold as Maytags here in the UK - rather pricey though!

I bought my mother that exact machine

I bought it for my mum in 1994. I really liked it. It spun at 1500 and really dried the clothes well. Unfortunately, its circuit box blew 2 weeks later. My mother changed it for a Bauknecht, she didn't get on with the Asko electronics and wanted a basic dial.

Thanks for the posting it really brought back memories.

Sounds like a London underground train!

Mike - does your Asko make this noise?

The sound

Hi Jon and everyone else

I remember when I bought it, it was noisier than I hoped. It has an induction motor but it wasn't that quiet. It also rattled a bit with the door flap down.

It was a good machine though and I loved the programmes and the flat door.

Wow, Rob, I'm surpised - that really sounded like a brush motor to me. Induction motor technology these days makes different noises to 20 years ago.

Induction????

Hey, I`m hoping mine doesnt sound like that....LOl, me thinks that pump is blocked it sounded like the water was taking too long to empty as you could hear it splashing against the drum, either that or the drum bearing was knocking,

Mine are near silent, just the sound of water splashing against the S/steel drums, BUT, it does sound like a jet engine when it`s on spin, which I do like, I`m not sure I want Bendix Spins....Whooooshhhh!!!....will do a vid in the next day or two , Mike
