I have a zanussi FJS1225W washing machine from 2001, recently the machines display flickers on and off when it is washing, and i sometimes get an E90 message coming up, I think the pcb module is going on it which will cost about £80-£120 to replace, My mum says that she will get a second hand washer after christmas, i think i'll get an old Zanussi, Hoover or Hotpoint.

I've had 5 years with my Zanussi and tbh its not done bad for its age, thats the average life expectancy for washers nowdays.

I want one of these :p if i can hunt one down

yeah your right the older type machine is a lot better, i had the jet sytstem bought in 95 and my friend got it in 97 wheni bought a new un. she still has same machine the only thing that went on it was the brushes and the door seal started leaking last year but she has 2 kids and is on most days..

i dont trust pcb's in washing machines, fine for pc's, tvs and videos etc but i dont think they are up to the job on washers just yet.. i can hear the screams now telling me how wrong i am lol just my opinion, sorry to hear your having trouble with your machine hope you find a good new (old) one

I also love the machines like the one in your picture, but I like the induction motor ones not the brush motor models. It's hard to know just from looking which machine is which type because there was a big overlap with that style of machine. What do you think?

The only model I think that had an induction motor was the FL812 which had an 800rpm spin speed, i think the FL811 had an induction motor too but i'm not too sure, only thing i'll have to do is get them to test it for me on the spin before i buy it.

They last ages, my friend lived in communal housing and 2 zanussi FL812 models were bought in 1989 and were used about 8 times a day none stop, they broke down in 2001 and were replaced with two Hoover Performa washers.

I really want one but they are really rare to find as they are like 16/17 years old now :(

hopefully i'll find one that had light use by an old lady or something :)

E90 error is quite common on these. Can often be a poor connection somewhere if its intermittant and not necassarily the board. Might be worth checking all the connections on the wiring or if your fed up with it then a classic Zanussi will always be preferred lol.

Mum says she will get a new machine after christmas, my dad is always against spending money on a new machine, however i want a classic machine :), if i can't get an old zanussi like that then i'll get a Zanussi Jetsystem 1000 FJ1094 (circa 1994) i think it is or an old Hoover Softwave, i love the fill flume on them, they are really entertaining to watch :)

I actually bid on this one in Ebay. Unfortunately, I was too tight and lost out on it. Still keeping my eyes peeling though. I love the one above Darren is getting. I much prefer the ones with the plinths.

what i love about old zanussis is the amount of programmes on the dials, some of them go up to letter X some go to letter W or S
its amazing i love the high water level rinses as well :)

Does anyone of you know if those machines have got both hot and cold fill?

If so, would you please if possible to you let me know the electric wiring of the second (I meand the HOT one) valve?

I'd be so happy to get my old Sangiorgio FL (1981) provided with the hot water inlet too. That's because it's got mechanical control...
I don't absolutely have ever thought to do that on my Whirlpool TL (2001), as it's got electronic controls!
