I've decided my good old Whirly Design 2000 is due for a rebuild- it's exhibiting the signs of trans/clutch failure. Occasionally it will grind instead of beginning to agitate, and extraction on heavy loads is poor.

P.S:
I do know that the coupler should be replaced when I'm doing all this; I have instructions for that. |

It would be great if someone out there has a link to this information! I have the same Design 2000 washer. It has been "surgilating" happily and reliably for nearly 20 years, but occasionally I detect the smell of hot oil after a number of loads, and sometimes a little noise as well. Nothing drastic and so long as it keeps going I'll be content, but if it develops a big problem then it would be nice to have some information on how to fix it instead of just replacing it with a newer model. |
