Has any one ever seen one of these? I know it's probably a WCI clone but still, Tappan had a front load washer for a brief moment in life, like Amana.. If you would like to see the manual, go to frigidaires website and over to ther customer service corner and go to download manuals.. Its model number (you must type the dash in) 46-2707.. Any body have a clue as to the age of this unit?

I wasn't aware of Tappan having a Front-Load Washer, but it figures, since Gibson had one, that was a "WCI" made. I've got one of the Gibson Front-Load Washers, with the "Weigh-To-Save" Load Size Scale on the Pull-Down Door. It also matches my "WCI" White-Westinghouse Gas Dryer, with the same type of Control Dials and a Black Background on the Control Panel area and they are Stacked and they are in the Almond Color. The Washer also has the Signal for not only the End-Of-Cycle, but it is also to let you know when the Door is unlocked on the Rinse, so you can add Liquid Fabric Softener. I've also got the Blue Stationary Dry Rack in the Dryer, that attaches to the Holes in the Lint Venting on the inside of the Door Opening, so the Rack swings out of the Dryer Drum area, when you open the Door.

I had a Gibson FL'er (circa '92) which had controls that looked just like the ones in the manual for the Tappan.

It had all the Westy/WCI front-control/stackable characteristics: Came with a big plastic pitcher to dilute bleach and add manually to the wash water. It had no fabric softener dispenser; in lieu of that, it would buzz when the cycle hit the final rinse so you could go add softener manually. Had the weigh-to-save door and a tub light.

The only mechanical difference I noticed between it and my circa '87 rear-control Frigidaire FL'er was that the solenoid CLANK going into a spin was gone. I'm trying to remember if it reversed tumbling during agitation....I know the '87 didn't. Huh. Can't recall for sure, but I don't think it did. The '87 had a dispenser on top for fabric softener. I don't think there was a bleach dispenser, because I remember being quite surprised (and initially skeptical) of the bleach being dispensed into the first rinse on '96 FrigiLux.

At any rate, it was the last old-tech FL'er. Next came the '96 Frigilux, which seemed SO advanced at the time----Reverse tumbling, detergent dispenser, timed bleach/fab soft. dispensers, larger tub, fast final spin speed.... Now they seem almost quaint compared to the high-tech LGs and Hetties.
