Hi Guys! As you know I'm never on this forum since I'ma vintage GE guy but My aunt has asked for my help with her Washer. It's only about 3 years old (!) and its normally super quiet. Lately they noticed a burning smell and now during the spin cycle it sounds like a Jet taking off. I'm here on New Years Day (Happy new year!) and she put a load in for me to listen to. It runs fine and quietly when it washes but the spin sounds like there is an excessive vibration from the transmission. Overall it runs fine and i know they don't overload it. Most of their loads aren't even big enough to use the large capacty setting and its a super sized machine. Again - I know very little about these newer machines except from what i can guestimate but it does seen to be coming from the tranny and the noise is excessive enough that you can really hear it anywhere in the house - this coming from a machine that used to be otherwise unnoticable. I'm going to further explore in a few mins but I wanted to get this thread started to see if you can help. I look forward to your replys thanks!

3 Years Old
If there are major issues with the tranny it can be covered under the manufacturer's gaurantee with in certain time periods. Check the date of purchase and the read the owner's manual.

My parts guy told me a story of another repairman who comes in.To replace the bearing and seal in certain Amana washers, you pretty much have to disassemble the whole washer. In fact,by the time you remove everything,3 more bolts removes the transmission.

They will cover the cost of the hub and seal/triple lip seal kit if its replaced with the transmission. I believe this machine had either a 5 or 10 year part warranty on the trany. Even after its fixed there is no garentee that it wont happen again. |
