Is it true that the ARISTON brand is being phased out in favor of HOTPOINT. given the choice id pick ariston rather than hotpoint. they can't let a historic brand like ariston be dumped for hotpoint. ARISTON has always in my opinion been a better brand than hotpoint and i think it was a stupind decision br merloni/indesit to take on hotpoint.

Hmm
I dont think anyone from the UK will agree with that- up until the Merloni takeover Hotpoint was the best selling brand over here !

still i think they should keep the ariston brand and i think merging hotpoint and ariston is a bad idea also. |

Here in Italy nobody has ever heard of Hotpoint before the merge, but now every Ariston appliance is double branded, the aqualtis advertisement has been changed to show Hotpoint-Ariston on the machine. I believe that by the end or mid 2008 Ariston will be long gone... That's quite sad actually because they decided to keep a newly acquired name istead of an historic brand... not that I ever liked Ariston (always found SMEG waaaay better) but that's sad... anyway the only thing that counts is that hotpoint is an all Italian Brand now hehe :D I'm proud of my flag ;) |

I suspect they'll be Hotpoint-Ariston for a while. Then they'll drop hotpoint again. It's quite a common strategy to merge in a brand. |

Ariston has always a medium quality brand at affordable prices, better than Indesit latter days but now they're one and the same with the exception of the Aqualtis line.
