RAAAAAAABBEEEEERRRRRTTTTTTT!!!! I'm again speechless. They look showroom new. You've triggered a childhood memory. Neighbors down the street must have had a Kenmore 70 series of this year because I now remember they had the same type of timer knob as well as my dad's best friends wife when they set up in their newly built house--she had the Kenmore 500. I believe this was around 1963 early 1964.

And the elongated kinda shape of the cycle graphic area is reminiscent of that atomic era look as far as I'm concerned. |

That is a classy find! I LOVE the cool color and the atomic-age looking control panel. They match the walls in your basement there quite nicely! Most Kenmores for the longest time have been Whirlpool built machines, which these look like too. I can just vision that pair sitting in the Sears showroom now they are in such good shape! Can't wait to hear how they wash! |

Every Kenmore auto washer from 1947 right up until today has been EXLUSIVELY Whirlpool built.Just to clarify, all of sears full size stand alone toploaders. |

This is a beautiful set that was very well taken care of. At first glance, I wasn't entirely sure the dryer was an exact match, as the timer dial is slightly different, but the catalog page clearly shows that it is.

Now that I think about it, there was another Sears model from about this time that had a very similar panel, only the timer dial was rectangular. It wasn't an alphabet machine, and had smaller dials on each side of the timer for water level and temp. That model is very reminiscent of the 1958 Custom Imperial Frigidaire timer configuration. |

Hi everyone, Scott very good observation about the lid position!!! On all Kenmore washers the lids slowly but surly open further back towards the left as they age, but this is adjusted by simply bending the inside of the hinge under the top. So, when I got the machines home I immediately adjusted the lid back to its brand new position. The washer was also missing the detergent cup and rubber scrubber, it only had the plastic cap with the scrubber removed, so I replaced both immediately with ones I had in my agitator caps bin.

Robert, I can't believe this. The mom of a kid I used to play with had this same 64 alphabet set only in white. Recently someone in my neighborhood put this same dryer on the curb. I checked it out but it was too far gone. I love the Kenmore alphabet washers from this era. If you decide not to keep it in your collection PLEASE make a DVD of it before you let it go including one on the wash n wear cycle. But it's such a beautiful color I think you should keep it in the collection even if it is a slightly later year model than you normally like. Congrads!

I know Greg, isn't that sick? I mean, if it had been a 90s DD Sears, it would have had not for sale all over it! There's just no accounting for taste. Between this w/d and that TV Gary found, that had to have been a very cool house. It's probably beyond the reach of many now, but that is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Minneapolis. |

Early Bird?
Hi Scott - perhaps the main reason why the TV and the aqua washer and dryer didn't sell first thing was because they were unique. This sale really wasn't representative of most mid-week estate sales. Generally, sales during the week are pretty bad and it isn't worth the time to look at the ads in the paper. However, this was a nice house and the woman must have lived there forever. I think that she decorated the house once in the 40's and then added a few things in the 60's and 70's. There were also some great asian endtables and some great kidney shaped sofas. |

Scott, this was a soft heat dryer. Heat started on high and reduced as clothes got dry. NOw, with it being timed, only, I have wondered if the heat backed down as the times got less.

OH, so pretty!
