Best Wishes for the New Year

Its the Year of the Rooster! ( I could have put that another way ; )

Have a bunch to drink if you like (its your brain cells, bruddah!) but please do not drive!!!

Dennis and I and our friends from Minnesota are going to sing for our Hawaiian neighbors at their party. Martha wrote "Green Island" which tells the story of our move and our love of our new home. Martha and Mark have talent; Dennis and I really do not. Hopefully, everyone will have had a few drinks by then to make us sound better!

A big ton o' fireworks after that!

I never used to be aware of the Chinese Zodiac until I moved here. You'd have to live under a rock to not know its the Year of the Rooster.

Best Wishes to All!

(I'm at work at usual, and typical Texas weather extremes have swung from from a snowstorm last weekend to running air conditioning tonight.)

Happy New Year to EVERYONE here!

May the new year bring you everything your dreaming of!

May the new year bring us...
A world with no war.
A world where natural disasters don't kill hundreds of thousands of people.
A world where people are not looked at differently because of the color of their skin or the God they pray to.
A world not haunted by terrorists.
A world where husbands don't kill their pregnant wives.
A world where two people who love each other can express their love in marriage, regardless of gender.
A world where we have discovered a cure for Cancer, Aids and other horrible diseases.
A world where health care providers can treat patients pain adquately without fear of a lifetime jail sentence.
A world where every child has a place to call home.
And on a lighter note...
A world where every house has a front load Westinghouse, All is Fluffy again and I can go to Wal-Mart and pick up the Tide of Ol'e

Happy Holidays to each and every one of you!

Year of the Rooster!

Oh yeah! I happen to live in Bradford, the Doodle Soup Capitol of the World! And the Rooste is our mascot. Maybe this will be a good year for our little town. Happy Rooster Year!
Recipe #9

Doodle Soup
Courtesy of Ann Galey from Bradford, Tennessee, the uncontested Doodle (as in chicken) Soup Capital of the World.

Note: Ann Galey says one chicken will make about 2 cups of good doodle soup.

Bake or roast a chicken. You can cover it or not, salt it or not. But be sure you bake it slowly until it's golden brown. While the chicken is cooking, combine 1/3 cup vinegar and 1 2/3 cups water. Bring to a boil. Add hot red pepper, black pepper and salt to taste.

When the chicken is done, remove it from the pan. Add the vinegar/water mixture to the pan with the chicken drippings and stir. This will lift all that good doodle goo from the pan. The Doodle Soup should be about the color of tea. If it's too light, simmer to reduce.
