I have a little question for you guys. In 1976 here in Sweden there was a top loaded dryer. It was made by Blomberg and was sold here as Electrolux, Elektro-Helios and BBC. In Germany it was apparently sold as Cordes (see pic after text)

The machine was according to konsumentverket (testing facility for consumers) dangerous. There was 4 fires with this machine.

Now i wanna know: are i the only know here that has heard about this machine. I remember we had such a machine at school, but it always worked fine. Look at the pic below. Its the machine below the yellowish washer/dryer thing. You can easily see the lint catcher.

Actually this was the Picture of the Day a few days ago on the German club. It's from the 1978 Cordes brochure, so this is a Cordes machine. Cordes was an independent German manufacturer. Cordes was later purchased by Miele.

Topload dryers were not uncommon in those days, BSH made a few models too.

I know its a Cordes, but if you got your hands ang get one you will see they are made by Blomberg.

It usually says "made in Germany By Blomberg" or something similar. I have recycled many of those machines. Cordes was also sold in Sweden, but they was rare here.

What is BSH and when did they did those machines?

Hi Louis. Are both Siemens machines top loaders? That would be the first top loader washer with "h" axis since the Launderall in 1947.

Wow. I didnīt know that it was sold by Siemens also. It was the wt 3500 model that was sold here, but under the name Electrolux, Elektro-Helios etc. I didnt knew they had abigger version of it.

I could safely say i regognize the dryer because that white drum. I will maybe get a scanner later, i have a LOT of pics from Konsumentverket about the machine.

I think my aunt had a Seimens flauschtrockner when I lived in St. Oliff. It was a State Fair prize awarded to the town's dumbest virgin. She was so proud of that machine until she broke it when her prize oversize leiderhosen got caught in the suspension mechanism. She was told she was big enough to play with the Green Bay Packers, but she said no, I only play with Ollie's paecker.

The matching washers to this topload dryers were not the first topload H-axis washers after the Launderall. There were already other models on the European market before this one. The first European H-axis toploader was the V-Zug Unimatic from 1950.
