How does ff work with a solid tub?
How does the FF system work on a solid tub? Where does the recirculation pump draw in water? I'm only familiar with later filter flos.

Filter Flo in a solid tub
The washer fills until the tub over flows. When enough water weight has accumulated in the outer tub to trip a round sensor under a rubber cover the washer begins to agitate and water cirulates from the bottom of the outer tub, causing the wash tub to overflow, etc, etc. This washer has a one spped motor and a two speed transmission by means of a clutch. The washer agitates on low speed for 30 seconds or so and then shifts into fast agitation. It's indexing tub slows roll over and there is no spray rinse between the wash and rinse cycle, a drawback. I used to pour water into the wash tub while it was spinning to rinse the soap out of the pump and hose to keep from ending up in the rinse. It was a real work horse, new in 1959 and washed until 1979. It left our family of 5 in 1970 and went to an aunt with no children, so it had a much easier life after that.

Wow!
Wow, what a great find!! That is the first washer my mom had. Ours was white and my aunt had a turquoise set just like it. I was born in 62. That really brings back some memories. Does anyone around here have one of those they would like to part with?? |

Wow, Dick I knew your name was Dick Stevenson but I didn't know your middle name was Kenmore. I am really pleased for you to be finding so many models, all in one year. The beauty of it all is being able to use the newly aquired rebuild knowledge over and over.

Kelly,
Please tell me how does the washtub 'overflow' when you push the water saver button on the right side of the control panel, and the tub does not fill to the top?

Pushing My buttons
There is a small cone shaped opening under the agitator that lets a small amount of water trickle through to the outer tub. It makes a gasping sound then all at once it spits out accumulated water and then more gasping. It Filter-Flos more like a creek in the August sun.
