Mike, that is so cool, that is the first twinny that I have seen with a spiralator and a lint filter pan!! So neat. Thanks for sharing. |

Very kool. I love the ability to "boil" the water, although I'm sure one has to develop some special methods to transfer everything over to the spinner between wash and rinse! BTW, is the agitator made of metal to withstand the heat from those elements under the skirt?

Mike - you are the king of twin tubs! This Hotpoint is no exception either, quite a beautiful and amazing machine. Seems so rugged and well built. Thanks for sharing!

Samantha will youi miniaturize this for me so I can get it across the pond, dear?
Let me warn you now. When I am again in the UK this thing will be snatched up, strapped to my back and taken home.

btw...
My machine has already the enamelled spin can and has the same colour as the washer compartment: dark black-blue with white splatters. Also the strainer at the bottom has changed into a kind of a red sieve and the heater element goes totally around in a circle in a double rail.

Removing Items From Boil Wash
Hoover and indeed most other twin tubs sold in Europe/UK offered various tongs one could use to grip and lift hot laundry over to the spin tub. Again, this is a hold over from the old copper and dolly stick days of doing wash, when either a large pole or some sort of tong like thing would be used to fish out and remove laundry from the boiling pot. You did'nt think "Her Indoors" reached into a boiling pot of water and fetched out laundry, did you?

What a beauty!
Even though I'm saying it through gritted teeth, I do think the Hotpoint TTs were superior to the Hoovermatic (or the Supertwin, for that matter) in terms of ease and simplicity of use. Less fussy with being overloaded too, and lint free with great rinsing capability.

I forgot...
Isn't the font on the console similar to Hoover's late sixties/early seventies UK one, all squared up? Wonder who did it first? |

Hotties
Launderesse, I use both: woodden tongues and rubber gloves when doing a fully loaded wash because it happens sometimes that water runs into the gloves when reaching into the tub and it is essential when doing "very hot"/80°C or even "boil"/100°C washes as the heat is too strong not to go through the gloves!

"Palavering," as Laundress would say, to know
the speed of the agitation: is it the short fast stroke like the GE & HP automatics or the longer slower version like the Easy's.

Hotpoint Speed
The speed of the Hotpoint is like the GE, not slower like Easy, Servis or Speed Queen, heres a link to the action!!!
