I came across an old center dial Maytag Gas Dryer Model DG309 this dryer seems to have an electronic Igniter on the gas system so it is pilotless. Was this model the 1st dryer to have the electronic Igniter and the last center dial model ???

In 1975, Maytag introduced an all new design for their dryers with a larger capacity, larger door opening, front filter minor cosmetic changes to the panel and dial and (YAY!) pilotless ignition system on the gas models. They still looked similar to the previous models (angled control panel, center dial) but were much different under the hood.
