A friend asked me to look at her dishwasher leak. Where the shaft comes out of the pump for the drain / wash is leaking. Any thoughts on how to stop this leak would be greatly appreciated. Mike

That shaft seal is a common source of water leaks on a GE d/w. The other being the pump seal. I've never heard of a way to stop that leak. As far as I know, you can't buy individual pump parts for the GE d/w. You have to replace the whole motor/pump assembly. Many a GE d/w has been kicked to the curb for this reason.

I have seen in the past a "pump rebuild kit" for GE dishwashers on Repairclinic.com
Try that site and see what you can find.
Otherwise the pump assembly runs about 130.00.

I've rebuilt the GE pumps several times - the kit was about $19.95 (wholesale) but I bought a few when they were on sale for 11.95.
