I woke up to find these to vintage machines on the other side of the street waiting for the junk man. I had to pick them up...though i got late to class doing it. They were a '71 sears kenmore 600 and a 60's something RCA Whirlpool electric dryer. I'm gonna part out the Sears Kenmore 600 for my 700 and 800 kenmores restoration. I was wondering if anyone would want to trade for the RCA Whirlpool Dryer? I have the one pictured in electric and one in the basement that is gas. I don't need two of the samething. :)

Whirlpool Dryer

I've driven to different states for vintage machines and look what pops up across the street, go figure?

Up to 1967 - RCA Whirlpool

1968 - Whirlpool

I'm not sure of the sequence of events leading up to the RCA/Whirlpool split, but I'm sure someone will fill us in on that.

Thanks

How long did they make this type of dryer?

I have a sales book from 1968 that has this same control panel style, I'm not sure when it was changed. I've seen many of these over the years - very popular economy-minded models.

In addition to the Kenmore 700 washer, you have a Kenmore 800 washer? You may just find JasonL (and possibly me) at you door someday wanting to see the washer of our childhood (well adolescence for me). Please post a pic or 3 of the Kenmore 800.

My aunt had that WP dryer with a glass door, and a UV lamp.

The "chatterbox" (sparker) ignition [gas-heated unit] was unique to me. Don't think I have seen once since either :-).

I liked the infinite temperature control as well.
