POD, 01/17, “Lady Kenmore Dishwasher”

My question is this. Is this the model Lady Kenmore DW w/o timer knob: that operated like that of a clothes washer?

A friend of mine had what I think is this machine. It allowed you to selected the number of minutes the main wash circulated. Something like 10, 15, 20 or 30 minutes. Made sense to me. Also, the 8 push buttons could be concealed by a sliding door. My opinion was that it was a terrific dishwasher. Sorry I didn’t have one.

Do any members have or recall one of these beloved Lady Kenmore DW with main wash time cycle time options? No, I was not doing “acid and/or LSD” back then.

The Lady.......

Hi Partycycle! Just this past year I found one of these at a garage sale. They wanted 5 bucks for it. It leaked profusely. With some helpful advice from here, I replaced the hose to the upper spray arm.

The 8 cycle buttons are as follows: rinse hold / rinse dry / light wash / Normal wash / Power wash / Cancel drain / Normal temp / Sani temp.

There is no external timer control. There is a rocker button that is marked 12 min above it and below it on my machine is rubbed off. I assumed that this was drying time selection.

If you select the sani temp button with any of the wash buttons, the internal timer is stalled and the final rinse continues until the water temp inside the machine reaches 155 degrees. At that point the timer is activated again and the dishwasher continues through the end of the cycle.

This baby washes GREAT~! I did a demonstration and posted the pics. Here is the link to that....

Pictures of........

My Lady Kenmore Automatic Dishwasher with Hygienic Rinse. When I say that I am always reminded of Hyacinth Bucket(boo kay)from the BBC comedy: Keeping up Appearances

I bet she would be mortified to wash her "royal doulton tea cups with the handpainted perrywinkles" in my Lady Kenmore.

I need to clean her up a bit. I am also going to try and rig up a plexiglass piece for the front. So you can see that Roto-Rack spinning away! We will see.....Here's the link to the pics....

I rather doubt if Hyacinth

ever allowed the Royal Doulton/Periwinkles in her dishwasher! I am sorry that I don't ever remember seeing her load her dishwasher, but I am more than certain she had one.

Hyacinth can bee seen taking the empty but clean milk bottle from her dishwasher in the opening. There are also several episodes of her in the kitchen putting items in/taking out of her dishwasher. The dw is in the middle section of her "L" counter/sink arrangement. That is if one was standing at the sink, the dw is to stage right behind.

Tom, on that rocker switch, the time was 12 minutes or 26 minutes for dry length.

PartyCycle, the desscription of the selectable main wash times sounds like Kenmore's very first electronic control dishwasher, which Kenmore1978 used to have.

And the LK rotorack had a two height selectable rotorack to allow easier placement of taller plates in the bottom rack or very tall glasses, which I thought wasn't needed because the rack was pretty deep. Handled our Texas Ice Tea Glasses very well.

Electronic KM DW wash times

I still have it, has't been parted out yet. When I do, it's parts will be spare parts for the portable version of the machine I have in the garage. That machine (the portable version) is up for grabs, free, with all the parts, to anyone who wants it. The built-in version wil be curbed, but it wil be nothing but a shell when I'm done with it, I'm stripping virtually EVERY part off of it.

The selectable wash times on the first electronic KM machines were 10, 20, or 30 minutes. 20 minutes was the "default" time for all the cycles except Rinse & Hold, and Pots & Pans defaulted to 30 minutes. Water was heated during all washing and rinsing phases, but timer was only stopped if Sani Temp was selected and only in final rinse until 150 degrees was reached or 15 minutes had passed.

Priceless!!!!

Hyacinth’s facial expression when she was called Mrs. Bucket.

Okay, what members recall Hyacinth’s invitations (highly touted) to her?

“Candle light, indoor - outdoor, finger food, canapé, hot & cold hors d’oeuvre buffet”.

Yeah, Hyacinth did (not properly loaded) wash the milk bottle in the dishwasher. Euro brand. Looked like a Bosch.
