Do the new Maytag Jetclean dishwashers live up to the Maytag reputation? Does anyone have experience with the Jetclean III with the third rack? Do you recommend it?

3rd Rack Maytag

We've had a model MDB9750AWB for about a year now. It has produced beautifully clean loads and the bottom "third" rack has come in handy. HOWEVER, it IS a tight fit. When the main rack is in the lower position, necessary to accomodate full sized dinner plates, it hangs up on the the third rack below when it is fully loaded. When in the upper, raised position, full sized plates simply will not fit. The top rack is not adjustable, another disappointment.

I know a couple that have a 3-rack and are fairly disappointed in it's quality and usefulness. What you could otherwise stand in the lower rack of most tall-tub machines now has to lie face down in the bottom rack which I would think is rather limiting.

Maytag Third Rack Dishwashers

I've used the three rack dishwashers from Maytag and hated them. It is a constant pain shuffling the racks up and down to accomodate items. The third rack is just about useless, since you have to raise the second rack to get anything in it, and when you raise the middle rack it means you have a lot less room to accomodate normal items. I also found that it did not clean cups, glasses, bowls, etc. that was place in the corners. If I had to purchase a Maytag dishwasher now, I would go to Home Depot and purchase the cheapest mechanical control model with the original "Jetclean" wash system from 10 years ago. The only drawback to this model is the racks are vinyl and kinda flimsy. The racks could easily be replace with better ones.
