I already posted this in another thread, but decided as an afterthought that it is important and needs it's own heading. One of us here in the club needs to be the new Maytag repairman....check it out! Auditions in LA this weekend....but there is a website to go to also. Come on....Tomturbomatic? Maytagbear? Runematic? Gansky? Roto204? Rickr? Maytagmom?

My Favorite Maytag Commercial

I saw the television commercial some time in the early 1990's, perhaps during the evening news. Or maybe it was LA Law, can't remember:-) The commercial is mostly a biography of a laundry room where a Maytag washer and dryer reside. The biography of the laundry machines starts in the 1960's and continues to the present day. You see the family who live in the house getting older and the decor around the machines changes. But one thing remains the same year after year and that's the Maytag washer and dryer. An announcer says, "over the years your Maytag appliances will see many people come and go except for one person." And now comes the finale. For maybe 2 seconds you see the Maytag repairman say, "Me." And now the exciting ending! The announcer says and appears on screen, "Maytag." What follows next is a scene were several appliance doors, from washers, dryers, ovens, and refrigerators, slam shut. And then the following three words are said and appear on screen in the classic Maytag style, "The Dependability People."

Rich, why don't you try out?? You'd make an awesome Lonely repairman on TV! There'd be little girls (and boys) screaming and clawing their faces in glee when you made public appearances!

So Richie I imagine you're going to cancel our get together this Saturday, so as you can go try out?? ;-) I bet you'd look pretty d*mn good in a uniform. ;-)

When I first saw this posted, I guess I assumed it was a vintage thing, not a current ad! LOL I'm not really sure the Maytag repairman thing really fits with the direction the company has gone....oh well.

I saw my love, walking down the isle.

And as he passed me by, he turned to me, and gave me a smile.

Well as the preacher, the preacher joined their hands, and asked if any objections to this wedding speak now or forever hold your peace...........

AND I STOOD UP AND SCREAMED "IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ME"

Greg, you should audition...just think...they'd have a Maytag repairman who could actually repair an appliance! Send them your photo in front of your Maytag combo! Or better yet....send them the pics of your rebuild of it! Do it!!!

I've noticed that Whirlpool has sort of been treating Maytag like a "division" instead of just a brand of Whirlpool...almost like Maytag is it's own department in Whirlpool Corporate.
I say this because all the new websites still say 2007 Maytag Corporation.

Interesting.

They must have some changes in mind for the new Repairman campaign...

I mean, these days, how lonely could a Maytag repairman BE?

Maybe Ol' Lonely is going to come back as Ol' Busy...

My apologies for starting a separate thread, as this already established discussion was deeper into the stack. 'Ol Lonely would either be busily entertaining us or repairing a bunch of Maytag appliances, depending on how the quality of the Whirltags or Maypools really stacks up.--Laundry Shark
