Anybody know if anyone still makes those double-oven ranges with the eye-level oven? They were big in the 60's and 70's. I've already replaced all the other appliances in my house, might as well do the stove, right? I've always wanted one of these stoves. That second, smaller oven always seemed like a really good idea. veg |

Sacto, The last time I saw the double oven eye levels was in the 80's and at that point the upper oven was a microwave. It was GE. My mom and two of our neighbors all had them with the two regular ovesn. My mom's was a Roper avacado gas stove, one neighbor's was a gas Kenmore with a slide out cooktop with the brioler under the upper oven in harvest gold and the other neighbor's was a Electric Hotpoint in harvest gold. One friend up the street from us had a Modern Maid with the upper oven and a full size dishwasher under the cooktop where the lower oven would be. When it was time for me to by my first new stove I would have liked to two ovens also but we could not find a manufacturer of them. That small upper oven is very good for baking small thing, especially in the warm summer months. I opted to get the GE 30 Profile smoothtop convection range and the Profile convection/microwave spacemaker to hang above the range. THe small convection oven does a great job for smaller baking. I save the space off my counters and got the convience I wanted. THe one shocker is my mom paid about $500 for her stove in 1974 and I paid over $2600 for the two in 2004. A big price jump. How things have gone up. I just hope mine last as long as hers did. MY mom replaced hers in 2003. |

I see them all the time here in Florida.Just last week I saw a Frigidaire Twin 30 Custom Imperial from about 1975 in white at one of the salvage places I go to.I could have bought it for $25 but had no use for it and nowhere to put it.The only thing I could see wrong was the missing filter in the exhaust overhead.
