I know there was a thread about this machine a few months ago. I kept looking for this brochure. When Veg was out to visit he spent a lot of time looking at all my appliance literature-I asked him to keep his eyes peeled for this. I finally remembered where it was-in another whole secret cache of appliance fliers (sorry Veg-you missed some of it!)

I now post this as proof to all that there WAS an Amana FL washer from the Raytheon days

Very interesting! Looks identical (with a few minor cosmetic changes of course) to the current SQ front-load washer. I'm guessing this was from the late-1990's?

Amana/Speed Queen had that grav-ely looking backround on their control panels going all the way back to 1993 or so. We looked at a Speed Queen TL set before buying our WP set, and the control panel was similar. They even had a cool looking electronic control set at the time.

They were not quite right about keeping the water inside where it belongs. A friend had one for a while but the door gasket just could not quite seal at the bottom and it dripped. He returned his and then they were all recalled. This was the machine that was also going to be offered in stainless steel, if I remember the hype correctly.

Thanks Dave, for sharing.

David, I just let a brochure go with the similar vintage Amana pair (TL washer) that I sold last weekend. It showed the front loader and gave some info but didn't provide the detail of what you've posted above. My brochure had all washer types in it. If I had known you were seeking proof that Raytheon produced a front load Amana, I would have offered it to you. Looks like you've got what you need now.

Re: Amana Reytheon Frontloader

These front loaders were very expensive as I looked in a magazine at one and it was going for and get this $2000.dollars thats why I never got one. Danf.

As quick as it hit the market it was yanked. It had suspension issues amoung a few others. Basicly the amana reps said it just didnt work. I would be curious to see what alliance changed from the original raytheon model.

The stainless steel washer and dryer were going to be tall like the height of the pedestal mounted machines and have the controls on the front like a commercial machine to give the laundry room the "professional look."

Even the model number is similar to that of the SQ FL.
