oooh, the peek-a-boo look!

I had forgotten that the TOL Frigidaire 1-18s had a glass window in the lid (hadn't seen Frigidaires with that feature since the pink and turquoise washers at an old "Helpee Selfee" coin laundromat near where I grew up)...

...or should my drift line be "Look for the Sheer Look"?

James,

Here's its mate! A 1977 Frigidaire Crown gas (YUK!) dryer. It's the same later Harvest Gold without the other shade sprayed at the edges, just like your washer.

Rich

Not selling

Besides, from what I heard, I don't think he would have any place to put it anyway.

James, I hope you get that dryer from Rich. Your WC-6 is a beautiful machine!

I almost fell off my chair..

..When I saw the picture...then I saw it was gas....what a bummmer!
Hi Rich--That sure is nice looking dryer! Believe it or not, I have never seen the dryer that goes with the 1/18 that I have, so thanks for the new mental image!! I sent you an email I think on friday or saturday night and I found your web site too! So I hope to hear back from you again real soon. Hope you had a nice weekend and that your friend mentioned in another thread, is ok.)
Take care and thanks again for the great pic!--take care. James

Hey Westy

Unfortunately, Rich's dryer is gas...I need electric... :(

So I guess I'm still 'single' for now!! ;)

Take care!--James

James,

Keep in mind that all the 1-18 parts are interchangeable. All I have to do is take the case and control panel off this gas dryer and put them around the guts and control panel back from an electric dryer and you have it. But the shipping would kill you. Can't you find any electric 1-18 dryers near you?

Rich

This pic is of another gas-converted-to-electric 1-18 I restored for the warehouse owner. Note the two tone color is different from the gas dryer in the other pic.

Rich, that looks like the exact same dryer Steve (Mayken4now) has paired with his 1-18, that I gave to him in December of '05. Is it a DEI (or, formerly a DGI, LOL)?

Rich,

To answer your question 'can't I find a dryer near me?' Your picture of the dryer is the first time I have even SEEN what one looks like...that should tell you how dry Sacramento is as far as 1-18 dryers go (or at least where I know where to look for them!)

How much would it be to ship a dryer to calfiornia? $250? I mean I don't know what else to do at this point. I've been looking for years..and it seems that every state BUT california has cool washers and dryers!

Thanks-- James

ps. I saw the 1962 Frigidaire Custom Imperial WCI-62 & DCI-62 set on your web site...those are fanstastic!!

Austin,

Yes, you are correct. It is now a DEI.

James, you really need to get this dryer for yourself. (PSST: they aren't made anymore and they are becoming very rare) Forget the cost of shipping and pay it. You will never regret it.

Steve

Hey Steve,

Well, I emailed Rich directly and asked him a few things..so we'll see what he has to say.

Thanks for the encouragement! (It's always so much more fun to spend someone else's money isn't it!!! lol! ;)

Take care--James

Hi Rich,
I emailed you via your link at wesaveoldwashers@aol.com for some info on the dryer. Is this still a valid email?

Thanks! James

Hi James,

Yes, I am finally getting around to emails. If you wanted to check out shipping prices from Pittsburgh, PA to your place and let me know, I'll pick up the dryer and convert it for you in a few weeks.

Rich

I had a Maytag 806 washer shipped from South Bend, Indiana, to San Diego, CA. Lot heavier than a dryer, but it was over $600.00!
