Do you have a A906 control panel?

Kenny-goatfarmer,

I have a lighted A806 but have a DE408 dryer that is not lighted.
Would you happen to have a lighted console that would swap out for my dryer?
I know I could swap the timer and buttons over if the wiring
harness is different.
It would be a dream come true to have them match.

thanks, Patrick

IIRC, 806 only uses the center dial, it wouldn't have any buttons on it. Powering the light might be an issue also. Might have a dryer, let me check.

The D808 does show buttons over to the right of the dial.
Take a look at this pic in a sales brochure.

Wouldn't a lighted control panel on the dryer make it perfect!

Apparently there was a pretty big design change between the model 806 and the above 808. The older halo of heat 806 did not have buttons, just a dial with electronic, not automatic drying. The newer 808 seems to retain the electronic dry with the addition of some heat setting buttons, with a larger drum, and no halo of heat.
Per Patrick's wishes to transform, I am not sure, but the lighted conrol panel may not be compatiable/switchable with all Maytag dryers, there would need to be the electronic sensors in the drum paddles for the thing to work right as I assume the lighted conrole panel dryers were electronic dry, not automatic dry. They are just wired much differently and the control panel is distincly either an electronic dry or an automatic dry or even just a timed dry, in my experience.

What if you were to swap the timer and buttons from the 408 over to the lighted panel on the 808? Then the dryer would function the same, just with a different panel surround. I would have to look and see if there was a way to connect the light to the existing 408 wiring. I have always hoped to find a harvest gold 808 dryer but they just don't pop up when you want them to.

Anyone out there with advice who have done these "head swaps" in the past???

Patrick

DE308?

Is there any info in the scanned brocure about the DE308? I have one in storage and am curious to how it stacks up in the Maytag lineup at the time. It has a regular and perminant press timed cycles and buttons for regular or gentile heat.

Tanks,
Dave
