From Tammy:

These are the pictures from my phone … my great aunt passed 5 months ago and to my knowledge it was just repaired … I personally can’t use it due to where my water lines are and my gas line is in an awkward place and the power outlet is across the room .. weird huh? Please contact me if you are interested!

LA Boys this is a fabulous machine, don't let it go to the crusher. If you are interested in this machine email me (unimatic1140@yahoo.com) and I will send you her contact information.

I'm probably going to regret posting this but...

...didn't they use two of those, side by side, as Joan's laundry pair in "Mommy.."? Those door handles look awfully like the ones in the movie. Can't exactly remember the backsplashers but I sure remember that Joan liked Lux! (The canister of "Babbo" was only for hitting the children).

Scott, surely there's room in your apartment for one of these! :)

That does look exactly like the 1971 model Greg found in Phoenix, except without the bojack almond job. Once again, SAVE PLEASE!

Combos I understand were quite popular in certain areas of LA at one time. A lot of the postwar homes have an alcove off the kitchen with a utility tub, but there is only room for one machine. I'm sure many people used a standard automatic washer and skipped the dryer or maybe put one in the garage, and some later used stack units, but others used these.

I know of one woman that had one for many years and toward the end of her living in the house in the early 80s Sears was already getting reluctant to work on it. She thought it seemed to her her neighbor's Duomatic (a later, narrower one I presume, no way one of those 36" behemoths would fit in those alcoves) was more dependable than her Sears, but she did like the machine when it worked.

Loosen the thumb screw in the upper right corner of the access panel before you move it.

The only known Almond 1971 Lady Kenmore combination washer/dryer in existence. That's not bojack, that's RARE!!

OK, I'll remind you of that when you decide to paint it a different color ;-)
