I have a K.A. D/w and it needs a new Pump in it.I bought it last month at thrift store for 10 bucks. The sticker that tells me the model is gone I can't find anything on it.It has no dials at all just buttons it is the superba one.I have took it apart the Pump and it has a fine Filter under the sprayer and it also seems to have a Real food disposer in it its about the size of a silver dollar and it has little blades in it and a metal piece that over hangs on top of the disposer part just a little. My question is do I have a Kitchenaid Pump/Hobart or is this a Whirlpool pump.It sure is well built to say the least I want to replace the pump but I cant find a sticker on the whole thing somebody removed them all.It has a blower in the back right rear also.I LOVE these type of dishwashers .When I was young I rember a T.v commercial about K/a D.W. and they put a whole cake inside of it and well that is me all the way I don't Wash the dishes before I wash the dishes.

Could you upload a photo of this dishwasher? That would make it easier to identify.

i always figured if it is not labeled KA by hobart, it is not one of the hobart made dishwashers. we have a kuds23080, it is notlabeled hobart, all pushbuttons and has cycle indicator lights, green light when finished. somebody on this site has the monochromatic white with pictures but sorry i cannot find them. ours is black purchased around 95-96. oh yeah tenn guy the label is on the left inside door ledge on the tank not the door, as you said, if its there you probably would have seen it.

My KUDS22 purchased in December 1992 doesn't say "Hobart" on the panel as my parents old KDI-17a did, but it is still fully the Hobart (2-arm) design far as I'm aware. Whether it says Hobart on the model/serial label, I don't know. Would have to look.

Answer the guy?

I have read several references to repair houses that rebuild and sell timers, motors etc for Kitchenaid. Any chance some of those contacts could just be posted and let him work it out. I advised him to post here after meeting on the Kitchanid web site.
Thanks,
Kelly

Without the model number or photos of the machine and/or pump unit, he's going to have to remove the pump and take it into a local parts-supply center and have them identify the parts he needs. Easy enough really, it has to come out anyhow...

Local Parts Store

On the Kitchenaid site he was told it was a total obsolete. I advised him to come here and ask for the place to go for parts. Am I to believe no matter what he needs and regardless the age of this unit any part will be available at the local parts supply? Frankly I was being lazy. I will go back and read some of the posts when you all so joyously threw out two names, I have read often on this site. One specializes in timer rebuild and another motors. It is good I do it myself. Then he will be grateful to me and like me best.
Kelly

Ooooh, maybe it's a Hobart then...

Is the pump bad or just the motor? It may be two separate parts. I can still get some parts for my Hobart machines at my local parts shop and others have to be "hunted down." If it's a newer, Whirlpool built machine that KitchenAid says parts are no longer made for, that doesn't necessarily mean there aren't any parts on the shelves of parts companies around the country. If he can't find any for a Hobart-made dishwasher (or Whirlpool for that matter) locally, you can try Larry at Modern Parts House in Parma, OH; 216-661-6966 but Larry will need the part number or the machine model number to discern the correct replacement.

I like you the best, Kelly ;-)

A Million Thanks

I was looking through old posts until 2:00 AM last night. I was clicking on old links as they popped up. Its easy to wax a bit nostalgic when I see how many stop posting and fade away. Greg, thank you. Sincerely and with gratitude.

I found the Pump and I am going to order it.Its Exepensive 190$$ but the New Dishwashers now days just dont hold up like these and sence Whirlpool now has a Monoply on just about everything innovation and differnces will decrease. They seem to be made to self destruct after a few years of use now days.My Mom has went through 5 Dishwashers in 10 years before that we had a Waste King/Thermador for 14 years and it was a great machine.I only buy American D/w cause of the disposer in them and I DONT Prerinse also I just love the look of this old K/a machine.I found a Schematic of the pump in mine its the one on the left I dont know who designed it but its great at washing even though it has no 3rd sprayer on top.

I have a 21 series KA dw that I have taken the pump apart and cleaned it when I first got it. I noticed the black plastic inside the pump and for that matter most of the parts made out of this (like surrounding the wash arm) have a rough feel to them.

Does this decrease the efficiency of the pump?

I assume this is just the materials breaking down after so many years of exposure to the dw soap and hot water.

It all seems to work fine but just wondering if these should be replaced before they can't be found anymore.

tennguy7: where did you find the parts you are ordering?

thanks, Patrick

Thanks for the link. I took a look at it and it's the same motor and pump mine has.

You will basically have a brand new dishwasher after you install this. Best of luck to you.

Are you able to take a picture of your dw and post it here?

Here is a pic of mine.

Patrick
