Well, I thought this might be of a little interest. I have been noting the frequency in which these vintage machines have been showing up around here in the Great Northwest. I remember trying to gauge my chances of finding what I was looking for here or should I spring for Shipping $$$. Anyway I have made a little list. I have left off some transactions by existing AW members and perhaps I have forgotten something.

5/1/06 – late 40s Kenmore Bolt-down in Seattle
7/12/06 – 1951 Kenmore washer in Seattle - free
7/15/06 – 1953 Hotpoint washer in Portland - $50
8/5/06 - 1952 Kenmore washer in Portland - $250
9/16/06 – 1957 Mid-line Kenmore dryer in Renton - $75
9/23/2006 – 1955 Frigidaire washer in Portland
11/15/06 – 1947 Bendix in Lynnwood free
11/16/06 - 1958 Pink Maytag Set on Craigslist for $75 (ebayed at $1000 reserve Later)
3/4/07 – mid 50s Kenmore “bulls-eye” Dryer on Craigslist for $74, not saved
3/8/07 - 1968 Hotpoint combination washer-dryer in Seattle – Was asking $40?
3/14/07 - 1952-1954 WO-65-2 Frigidaire Unimatic in Portland
3/19/07 - 1947 Frigidaire dryer in Seattle - Free
3/19/07 - 1955 Kenmore Vista-matic in Seattle - Free
4/11/07 - 1947 Launderall in Vancouver Canada
4/28/07 – 1954 Westinghouse Laundromat in Spokane $50

Seems like things have been showing up with a little more frequency. Maybe that is a good sign for the concept of Vintage Appliance collecting in general. On the other hand I kinda think the sparce collectors around here are getting tapped out on space. I kinda dread what is going to show up in the next year.

Hey Brian,

I too have often thought about the wonders of these really early machines that have been showing up in the Northwest. Either the stars have aligned, or you are in the right place at the right time!

And who knows, the next machine found could be an Apex?

By the way, if any of you ever become short on space from these great finds, by all means, feel free to send some of that appliance karma down here! :)

55 frigidaire

That would be it. I did remember another, 6/12/2006 a 1947 Bendix in Portland that ended up going to Florida. On the other hand there have been at least 4 machines imported from the rest of the USA to here in the last year so we'll have to call it even.

Come to think of it though one of those had started off in Washington... the 51 Kenmore dryer I have has seen alot of travel time.

I got the 52-54 Frigidaire from Portland. Needs new timer motor but other than that it works great No leaks.
