Just watched the towel-washing video. I was surprised that it had an almost vintage Frigidaire-esque sound and that there was actual rollover with such a small amount of water present. Future washer collectors will be thrilled to find these relatively rare machines, especially since they were only sold for a limited number of years.

It's a common misconception that Calypsos don't have rollover and wash poorly. They're not that bad, although they don't handle lint very well, or loads that have debris such as grass or pet hair which requires more water to flush properly.

As has been shown from time to time on Patent of the day, it looks as though WP was experimenting with the design way back in 1947. Definitely a collectable.

Thanks for the video! I was wondering, how large was this load? Did you fill the machine all the way to the top?

Sheets? The video title is "calypso towels sl" and your audio commentary talks about towels.

Glenn is definitely correct...the Calypso doesn't handle pet hair all that well. I find that if you load it only half full in those instances, it's definitely better, but nothing like an old GE Filter Flo. The dryer does more of the hair/debris removal. It's definitely not a machine that tolerates any kind of an overload condition well...washability goes quickly down the toilet if you overload it, though it handles a Bob Load okay.
