The new Kenmore Total Care Flex Agitator claims that along with the top rotation and back-and-forth movement, that it also adds up-and-down motion that improves rollover.

Does anyone know if the new Total Care Flex Agitator found in the new D.C. motor Kenmore washers will fit in a Direct Drive Kenmore Washer? The picture is of the Total Care Agitator, and the Flex has thinner grey fins at the bottom, spines like stairs that go down the spiral and many holes in the base (I don’t have a picture). I’m wondering if I buy a Total Care Flex Agitator if it will mount the same way and fit in my DD.

I'd have to see this in action to believe it has much effect. In examining the DD version in a store, the auger is spring-loaded to assist in pulling the clothes down, but it took more pressure than I expected to tug upward on it. Methinks a BobLoad®++ would be needed to get the action going.

I doubt an Oasis-style agitator would fit a DD machine (think classic Maytag), unless the DDs have gone to an extremely short centerpost and drive shaft. But there is a DD version that likely would work.

Triple Action Agitator

It has been around for quite some time, as I have seen how it works at a local Sears store. Although not an actual washing demo, I was able *upon instruction from the salesperson,* to pull on the agitator, as it is like a spring loaded type thang. Furthermore, I was also told that this triple action agitator is exclusive to the Kenmores, not the Whirlpools.--Laundry Shark

This TAA been around since the end of 1995/mid 1996 for it is in my TOL washer that was purchased back in 1996.
It does work quite well when the load is larger than life, otherwise it's a DAA when loaded normally.

Thank for your thought, they are appreciated! There is a picture of the agitator on pages 4-1, 4-6, and 4-11.

To get to the PDF:
1. Click the link.
2. Click “Laundry Products” on the arrow (The 6th one from the top).
3. Click “Cabrio Washer” (08/01/2006 Laundry Product L-81)
4. Click the red PDF 8178583.pdf and click “open.”

I was surprised to find that even the new agitator model Kenmore and Whirlpool washers have a D.C. motor and a recirculation pump. As the tub fills w/ water, the tub begins to float and rise. The splined hub components separate and allow the basket to move independently from the drive shaft. When the tub drains, the basket drops back, and the tub components re-engage, connecting the basket to the shaft, and permitting the basket to spin (page 3-1).

Jeff, that is how F&P toploaders work. The Oasis and Cabrio (and Maytag Bravos), both agitator and impeller versions, are based on this F&P design. You didn't get a look at my F&P when you were here, when you gonna come back? :-)

The F&P design is very interesting, Glenn. You had so many fascinating machines in the garage that I just couldn’t tear myself away from them. E-mail me sometime and I’d love to come over and learn more about the F&P. Have you added anything to your garage collection since Oct.?

HI everyone.

Here in Mexico are few Whirlpool Models (TOL) which also have the triple action agitator and they were introduced in the market before Kenmore introduced it. I don´t really know if it could really help on washing performace. As everyone knows, with or without this triple action, DD Whirlpools/Kenmores get excelent results.

I would love to see this agitator working, and if it is good, and if it fits a regular DD Whirlpool, I will buy one for mine.
