It's quite common to see washing machines with windows in their doors, but I've always wondered if there are any dishwashers out there with them. Lowe's had a demo of a Maytag dishwasher, where the case was built out of plexiglass. You went up to it and pressed a button, and you could see water splashing around inside.

Yes, windows are un-necessary to the operation of the appliance, be it a washing machine or any other, but isn't sure it fun to watch all the action going on inside?!?!?!

Store "demo" machines were the only ones I had seen that had "glass" cabinets or doors. In the case of dishwashers it had a light inside as well.At one shopping Center I used to go to-there was a Sears store and a Wards store in the same center.their displays were fascinating!-The Sears store had both transparent front dishwasers and a DD type DA washer.the salesman would activate the display-or you could-they had start buttons on them.
The Wards store had a transparent front Maytag washer that had a
Load Sensor agitator in it.The salesman would first demo the machine with poker chips-you could watch them circulate in the washer tank. Next he would dump several Light bulbs in the machine to show they would not get broken during the agitation. Was kinda neat to see.Would be fun to have some of those demo machines.also the Wards display had a KN machine with the panels and cabinet removed to show you the difference in construction.

Dishwasher window

A lot of the recent Maytag dishwashers have had dishwasher "cubes" made to demo them in the store-essentially, the tub is just clear plastic and when one flips the switch, everything can be seen-they've been doing this since they started with the stationary spray tower (late 90's) and with the newer models as well.
There was recently a Jenn-Air press release that said there would be a dishwasher w/ a window in it...

YEARS ago (in the late 1960s), when visiting one of my father's uncles for one of the major holidays . . who happened to own a Chevrolet dealership . . I remember they had a dishwasher with a glass door or window in the door. I have no idea what was the brand, but I've mentioned this here before and the conjecture is that it was a Frigidaire. Chevrolet = GM = Frigidaire.

I do remember that I was very upset because they refused to run the dishwasher after the meal. I believe the excuse was made that it's too noisy.

Glenn, I remember those feelings after a meal. Same excuse, too noisy, and particularly after I'd had such fun loading.

the pilot episode of Bewitched showed Samantha cleaning up the kitchen with witchery, with a top-loading Kenmore in the backround that had a see- thru front square area.

It's amazing what you can learn from POD's :-)

Every so often, the POD is a particular ad for Apex appliances. The ad mainly focuses on Apex's "bouncing basket" washers, but it also shows pics and descriptions for a dryer, dishwasher and canister vacuum cleaner. The dishwasher is a top loading portable and has a "porthole" window in its lid. (Apex washers also had windowed lids.)

In the Deluxe forum there is a picture of a new dishwasher with a window that Electrolux will bring on the European market under the AEG or under the Electrolux brand. According to the Electrolux brochure it's going to be available in April of this year.
