Ariston brief story...

Ariston is a brand born from Merloni Family (Artistide Merlony was the foundator of the firm)...which satrted to produce appliances with this firs brand in mid 60s
Then the Merloni's Appliances firm had been shared into two branches...one had been producing Ariston since when it had been assorbed by the Indesit become a brand of Indesit Company, the other remained Merloni's appliances with Ardo, Asko, TECNOGas brands...

Ardo is not new, actually it has been on the market for several years in Italy, perhaps it never was sold in your area.

IMHO that company makes the most horrible quality appliances, I wouldn't dream of buying a machine from one of the Antonio Merloni brands. The Merloni company uses a lot of brands names for the same product. Ardo, Nordland, Servis, Edy, EBD, EFS, Upo, Tecnogas, Baumatic, Elto etc. etc. etc. For every country a different name. IIRC there were plans to change that and to use the Ardo name only since it is their biggest brand. Unfortunately no matter what label it gets, the product is still lousy.

...it have to be so...yes... because I've always have heard it but olny now I'm seeing them!

They semms like Bompani's appliances which products I don't know who are made by...maybe Antonio Merloni's the same!

Sorry Louis...as some thread ago I heard about American friends asking why aren't TLHA sold over there in US either...I tried to found some firm that prouduces them and sold them over there too.
I have never tried one of them...I suppose they're the same quality as the Ariston products...but I might be wrong...

Good Bye

Diomede,

Bompani is indeed another Merloni brand, it's hard to get a complete list.

I'm not sure which brand is worse, Ariston or Ardo, perhaps it's not a coincidence, they all come from the same family!

Ardo-Servis?

Those Ardo machines are very similiar to the Servis machines sold here - no surprise of course as Merloni have effectively taken over the Servis brand in the British Isles. It is a pity though - Servis used to be be a top brand here, but it is now positioned at the absolute rock bottom of the market - competeing only with Beko. I guess Merloni have been clever and absorbed small local brand names....

One other thing - I'm confused...i thought the Merloni firm is now called Indesit company worldwide - is this not the case?

Washer / Dryer combo!

That ardo combo looks real neat to me. Nice capacity. It is not here in America and with a poor track record I wouldn't want it. But the capacity makes it very inviting. I wish the quality was better and was than made here than I would go for it.

This may be the company that bought out Philco of Italy a few years ago. They made the Equator line for over a decade.Once take over, their combos and washers were horrendice.Equator suied them and opened their own new factory facilities in China.I am going to visit the new factory the end of june!

David,

There were two Merloni companies, one was Merloni Elettrodomestici, the company that changed it's name to Indesit company. And the other was Antonio Merloni SPA that is now called the Merloni Group.

Chuck,

Yes, I think this is the same company that bought up the Philco brandname that was used already before in Italy. I found some more labels that Merloni uses: Blucher, Eurotech, Clatronic and Novomatic.
