It is hard to say what machine the perfect washer is, all have their good and bad points. The old top load auto's with the over flow rince where good as thay tended to rinse until the water run clean, something few modern washers do, unless thay have extra rince cycles and as many people have stated some of the Euorpean front loaders do not rince well even on extra rince cycles. I too liked the twin tubs as they were fast and one had control over the wash, you could start with the tea towels, then whites, light colours, dark colours and even wash dirty cleaning rags in the last load! The Hoovermatic was fun although tangled clothing and tended to be hard on clothing, also rinseinf in the spin can could be patch if one was not careful, some people used to do a spray rinse in the spin can and a deep rinse in the laundry tub. The New Zealand Fisher and Paykel machines have always been very good, they spin well and give a clean wash plus have always offered a good selection of programme options over the years, they also have a good action, efficient without being too severe on clothing. Most washers as as good as the user, checking the wash to see if there is enough detergent, the correct load size and proving pretreatment for clothing with stains, not to mention organising the wash so like clothing is washed together.
