Well, today i went to an estate sale in Pine Grove Mills (5 miles from my home) and found this beautiful working 1968 Kenmore Dryer, I bought it for 5 dollars. You think it's worth it, lol?

My friend Rich and I found the matching washer but alas we did not get to it in time, so it is heading to China as scrap :(:(:( But i beleive if i amass enough dryers there will be nothing else to find but the matching washers. HEHE

Hey! NICE find!!!!! Greg and I went to an estate sale today and saw this same dryer in gas and the estate sale people wanted $75.00. The house we went to was in an OLD neighborhood and the former owners must have had the LOVE of natural gas as they still had their 40's gas Servel fridge in the kitchen. It was hooked up and running.
But back to your dryer, FANTASTIC!

I love hidden controls!

Several years ago, I saw this washer & dryer set at a sale. They were in the basement and hadn't been used for a long time as they had a stacking unit on the main floor. Coppertone too!

The dryer we saw today was the similar vintage "Match-All" dryer with the small raised aluminum panel at the back, controls under a flip-cover on the left side of the top-back.

My Aunt,Natilie from Dundalk(Baltimore County),Maryland had the same model and color as well as the matching washer. She also had the matching gas range , a Philco-Ford refrigerator(bottom freezer),and a Whirlpool frost free freezer that replaced her 1945 Kelvinator chest model. The Kenmore set replaced a 1956 Westinghouse space mates pair that were pink!

Thats a great find, Graham, so glad you got it! Those were not a long lived design for some reason, but were so interesting to see and they work great. Is this gas ot electric?

Hi Graham, yes well all need cut off dates for our collections, otherwise I shutter to think what would happen LOL.

Now that is a fun find I love the way it says "Controls" behind the controls.

Nice machine. My dad is using the 1967 model which looks very simular to it. Only 1 repair in 40 year.

Hahha

It just goes to show you the good Karma you acquire via saving any and every old washer/dryer...you never know when the matching partner will come around. I'm not sure yet if Rich would like my dryer to make a "close" matched set or if he would like to sell the washer to me. P.S. Rich, the dryer is yours if you'd like it. :) Yay for good friends!!

Steve, yes, it pays to keep all the unique pieces.

Chad, Graham had seen a photo of the washer but thought it had been krushed. Luckily there was a misunderstanding between the owner of the warehouse and myself. He scraped *ALL* of the Maytags (sob) but had moved all the rest (4 Hamilton dryers, GE dryer, Norge washer with that burp-o-later agitator, 1958 Kenmore dryer, Frigidaire filtrator dryer, Hotpoint dryer, MW Windsor dryer, the 15 1-18 w&d and this Kenmore washer). As time permits, I'm getting the keepers out of his way. I had to rent another storage unit - ugh!

Jimmy, I hope that you're feeling better.

Graham, of course the washer is yours. Besides, you need more washers anyway. How interesting that both pieces are Coppertone!

How about a shot of the interior, what's it got for an agitator?

My mother had this EXACT same dryer and an older 70 series washer with the suds return on the timer..(the only part on it she ever had to replace while we had it). Got the set at an estate auction for FIFTY dollars for the pair and we had them both for 9 years until they finally went to the great appliance showroom in the sky. Keep that dryer if you can..that baby is a WORKHORSE
