Don (Jetaction) was kind enough to film his new GE Jet Swirl in action. I'll let him explain how it works, but the 10 second video is just wonderful! That fabulous belt-drive, perforated tub GE activation rhythmic sound is so very fun to hear again!

The video file is only 1/2 megabite so it should download rather quickly for all.

Thanks again Don!

Fascinating dispenser, I love the complexity of these Jet Swirls. So complex, yet so brilliantly simple. Never an undiluted drop touches the clothes.

It's been a while since I've seen a filter-flo stream that powerful, the solid tub machines don't have nearly that volume.

Post more, post more! ;-)

Last fall I bought a GE filter flo from Jimmy but needed a fabric softener dispenser for it. The downy ball never opened on the gentle cycle. Greg was the winning bidder on four Jet Swirl dispensers on ebay and sold me one. I was perplexed by the instructions because they state that the fabric softener is mixed with incoming fresh rinse water and drains into the bottom of the basket. How could this be-the incoming water is nowhere near the dispenser? I assumed they printed it out of order and meant that it drained into the bottom of the tub and than mixed with the water. The directions were right-they meant the filter flo water. During the first spin the softener is swirled into the inner chamber of the dispenser. When the spin stops, it drains into the outer chamber. When the filterflo stream starts, enough rinse water flows into the small opening on the side into the outer chamber. This mixes with and overflows the downy into the filter pan and into the tub. Whew! If for some reason the first spin is interupted, the downy doesn't run out, it just stays in the outer chamber-no fabric softener stains! Overengineered yes, but how smart is this?

Love the Filter Flo

AH! Love those familiar GE Filter Flo sounds. I loved to lay my head on the lid of my mothers GE machine and feel the warmth from the wash water and hear the Filter Flo stream.

compwhiz

A megabyte is 1 048 576 Bytes
A Kilobyte is 1 024 Bytes

Therefore 565 516 Bytes is 53.9% of a Megabyte or just about half.

3/4 of a megabyte would be 786 432 Bytes or 75% of a Megabyte.

What type of agitator does this filter-flo have in it?

misspellings

and some things are typos, not incorrect spelling, but so long as the meaning is understood that's all that's needed, I just let them slide.

Hi Agiflow: The agitation speed of the washer in the Jet-Swirl video clip is identical to that of the '93/'94-ish GE that I used to own (the last of the filter flow models). I'm willing to bet there's a three-ramp Activator under those suds.

The agitator is a straight vaned, six fin agitator. Great turnover with very clean results!

thanks jetaction

Those old ge's were real workhorses.I remember a friends mother had a late sixties ge with a black 6 vane agitator. They did have great turnover, but i think what really impressed me the most is the smooth way it agitates. She had that machine for years. She finally replaced it in the mid to late 90's with a wci or electrolux Frigidaire.
