Someone mentioned about not using liquid bleach in a front load machine. I have been using Clorox "Ultimate Care" liquid bleach in my front load LG and haven't experienced any problems as of yet . Do you think this bleach is safer than traditional LCB? It seem ALOT gentler than regular clorox and it can be used on certain colored fabrics.
I would appreciate any feedback since I don't want to harm my machine

any thoughts? opinions?

Thanks!

Ultimate Care has some chlorine in it, but it's a weaker solution than regular LCB.

Shane, I use standard LCB in 4-5 loads per week (1/3 of a cup, which is the maximum dose my Frigidaire's dispenser will accomodate) and haven't had a problem with either the '96 Electrolux/Frigidaire or my '02. The '96 is still in use, doing laundry for two apartments, although the tenants may not use LCB at all.

I've not taken the machine apart to see if there is any damage being done. Several knowledgeable at AW say it is not good for them, especially the FrigiLuxes, which have aluminum spiders. So far I haven't had any catastrophic failures, but I may just be lucky.

If you use it only occasionally, I wouldn't worry about it---especially if you're using Ultimate Care.

I will certainly let everyone know if I have a spider failure or other bleach-induced problem with my Frigi FL'er. If anyone should have a problem, it should be me, given the amount of LCB that goes through my washer each week.

Bleach in a f.l.

I've never had a problem with using bleach in a f.l. machine, and that's all I've ever owned. An old Westinghouse (pre-White/Westy), a White-Westy, a "Frigilux" and now a Duet HT-all have worked fine and suffered no ill effects from it. Always use the dispenser, however, or you'll ruin your load.
