Hi guys, my sister just moved in a new flat, along with it came this washing machine, top-loading horiziontal axis, can you tell me more about it? It's a constructa CV461, this is the only place where I ever heard this name before, when was this model manifactured? it has at least 20 years and still works great but my sister is concerned of power and water consumption so it's going for the dump at best in september since the landlord is willing to change it (with a little help).
Thanks!

In sweden this machine is known under the names Bosch and Siemens. The machine was made in 1985-87 and is considered a good machine. I think this model on the pics your sister has, spins at about 700 rpm.

As most older machines it takes some more water than newer ones. However in some cases its better with more water than less. At least i think so. I would keep it as long as it worked ok, but thats just me.

I'd use it. Older is better. Do they still make top load H-axis machines over there?

Yes, a lot of brands make them, expecially for the bathrooms because they're smaller in width (but depth is bigger). There even are a few washer/dryer combos that way!
Ariston, Candy, Ignis, Indesit, Rex-Electrolux, Smeg, Whirlpool, Zoppas, just to name a few, every brand has at least a couple of top loading machines, ranging from the 2 models of Rex to the 7 of Ignis.
As far as my experience goes about 1/4 to 1/3 of the washing machines sold in Italy are top loading horizontal axis. I don't like them, I want to see the clothes turn in the drum! :D

Yes that would be a major

drawback. Watching the clothes in the Forbidden Cycle is what collecting washing machines is all about!

Ah, look what we have here. One of the last washers before the white on white trend. Constructa was a leading brand for washers in the 50's and 60's until it became part of the BSH company. Your sister's machine is the same as the similar Bosch or Siemens machines. I always liked them, but they had one disadvantage, they don't spin between rinses. That is the reason they need relatively much water, IIRC around 100 litres for a full load. That is quite an amount of water compared to modern machines, but it was already quite an achievement compared to older machines. I think it would be a shame to bring this to a dump, perhaps you can save it in a way if your sister wants a new machine.
