Bewitched is on DVD and if you buy the first season, you will see all sorts of vintage appliances in Samantha's kitchen. GM Frigidaire of course. Also, lots of great Corningware/Pyrex coffee pots also!! Buy the first season!!! Are you kidding me Shane LOL? I bought seasons 1 thru 4 the first week each one of those were released. But there is exciting news, this Tuesday Bewitched season 5 gets relased YAY! I've been waiting nine months since the last relase, they are releasing Bewitched sets one season every 7 to 9 months, Jeannie is being relased a lot quicker. |

"YUP, just like every Maytag I've ever had, if you leave the lid up during wash it shoots the clothes right out of there!" Which means that a nearly-new turquoise 806 (GASP! SOB!!) was gutted by the prop department and fitted with whatever was needed for the comedy effects. I only hope they bought it, and that it wasn't a "promotional consideration" deal with Maytag. 806s deserved a better showcasing than that. |

I could just slap you for that one. Oh Steve, Tap, tap, tap, I'm still waiting for my slap:) Oooh I rhymed YAY. Which means that a nearly-new turquoise 806 (GASP! SOB!!) was gutted by the prop department and fitted with whatever was needed for the comedy effects. I'm not too sure about that Sandy, if they simply poured a couple of boxes of 1968 Tide into that turquoise 806 and selected low water and high speed agitation, I bet they could have produce suds like that without having to gut the washer. That would be a fun experiment to try actually. Hmmm now who has a turquoise Maytag 806 around here? Oh yeah, that's right, Ohhhhhhhhhhhh Don LOL. As For the clothes flying out I'm sure they used clear fishing line (like they used to in Bewitched) and quickly yanked them out from above. |

I wonder if washer enthusiasts at the time were saying "Well, at least they're ruining a new machine and not one of the beautiful, classic '59s!" I also wonder which current washers that we tend to dismiss will be more highly regarded 40 years from now; I can't imagine washers getting any more generic-looking than they are now, but who knows. Or...maybe I should qualify that by saying "...any more generic-looking than they were five years ago." We seem to have bold, bright colors and some retro-futurist styling happening at the moment. That's better than the all-white-bars-of-soap look of, oh, say my three Frigidaires. |

What season of "I Dream of Jeannie" is that from Robert? I have to admit when I saw the first pic I thought you'd found a set of turquoise 806's! |

I'll have to get the next season... something I just noticed too is they made no effort to cover up the "Maytag" on the control panel... |

What is super fun is to take a really good look at the condition of the washer in that first picture. You can easily tell that it is brand new, right out of the box, there is not a spec on it and it just shines. Ohhh it's a peek into the past of what the machine really looked like brand new, even without sitting in the box for 40 years. I just want to blink it right out of the picture and into my living room!

Oh yes; it is a beauty, isn't it? I LOVE the gas flame on the dryer console; everything is gas in Jeannie's kitchen. I wonder if the oven was, too? That would make a nice conversation piece in the living room, wouldn't it? :-) |

I also doubt that they ruined a machine; but as a lover of suds-cake and an inveterate low water level, small load man, very familiar with tons o' suds, I still can't imagine how they did those giant rabbit ears shooting out in picture 5. Did anyone else have a huge crush on Larry H. before he became J.R. Ewing, besides moi? |

who has it, take a look at the closing credits sometime and see if there is a promo-consideration mention for Maytag or a Maytag dealer. No it does not, I watched it last night and I for sure would have noticed Maytag in the credits. Remember this screen shot was only on screen for two or so seconds, it would have been very hard in 1968 to read Maytag that quickly on the TV screen unless one knows exactly what they are looking at to begin with. Besides would Maytag approve of their machine being shown pouring suds out all over the place as well as throwing clothes out of the machine? Me thinks Maytag would want their logo covered for this episode of Jeannie. |

"I'm a little surprised that the Maytag logo is so clearly visible." It wouldn't have been in 1968; TV sets back then just weren't capable of that much resolution. If you have HDTV and the DVDs of "Star Trek's" TV episodes, you can see all kinds of nail heads in the plywood sets. In 1968, no one saw them. |

Isn't that interesting? It almost looks like they have a gas cooktop AND a Frigidaire Flair.... And Greg - don't you be hating on gas dryers with standing pilots. I used to love my folk's Speed Queen. Looking at it used to make me so sleepy.... ;-) |

Dan, looking at the dryer made you sleepy? lol. Are you sure it wasn't the Carbon Dioxide eminating from the pilot light that was making you "sleepy"? I like your Flair link, very kewl. |

Oh Master,,,,,,,,,, Try what? Isn't it supposed to do this? Yes that's exactly what those Maytags do Don! Except with more suds pouring out, here I'll show you, I'll be over in 10 minutes with a box vintage Tide, now put a pot of coffee on. Look at the shine on your Turquoise Maytag set, they really do look like they were blinked out of the DVD!!! How do you get those great stills? Ancient Homo Secret ;) |

Those are great stills; is that from "Gidget"? It sure is Geoff, it's from the episode #18 "Like Voodoo" (01/13/66)--Gidget believes that a curse put on her by a gypsy is coming true when accidents begin to happen. Does anyone else kinda find it odd that the washing machine is like 6 inches from the kitchen sink? Jeff back in the 60's when I was little both my grandmothers lived in apartments in East Paterson, NJ (now Elmwood Park) with their washing machine in the Kitchen right next to the kitchen sink. My Dad's mom had a 1957 MOL Kenmore and my Mom's Mom had a 1958 Frigidaire Deluxe Pulsamatic. Oh those memories are so vivid in my mind. Too bad there was no matching Filtrator dryer around to dry out that cat. Or microwaves! ;-) Once again, GREG! Naughty LOL Yes that HAIR does say it all in #221697! |

but could be confusing Barbara Bel Getties (sp) with Granny Clampett who indeed had Tags. Trying to picture a laundry room somewhere off the kitchen in that sprawling South Forks Ranch, but drawing only blanks. No one's admitted to having a crush on Mister Jeanie, but not on JR. Fess up, folks! Wait...... you were all too young for crushes, or, like Shane, barely born. |

Honey that was the era of the once a week wash and set "Big Hair". Damn head of hair was plastered with enough Adorn, Alberto "VO5", or whatever one's favourite shellac in a can was, to last the duration. Well, at least until one got down the beauty shop next week to start the thing all over again. Great snaps by the way. Had forgotton all those garish colours (clothes, make-up, and decor) the 1960's and early 1970's had. Appliances excluded of course. For a housewife that red-headed woman with all that make-up, looks like she's running the local knocking shop,or at least perhaps is the area bike. But that's Hollywood. Looking at Jeannie, am surprised CBS gave the program such grief over her belly button showing at times, consider how much bosom she is showing. *LOL* |
