Hi all

Just came across this classic machine - someone must want it. I'm sure a matching dryer could be found...

Hi there

What a wonderful find. I've seen a very similar machine advertised in the 1974 John Noble catalogue.

I was very small at the time but I believe my aunt had a similar machine in the 70s that she had in a rented property. It had a similar noise to a Hoover and about the same speed (800).

I agree it would be great if someone could have this.

Rob

what a discovery...

a Mk72 Servis Compact.

I am pretty sure that this was Servis' very first front loading automatic and so is a very important find!!!!!!

This machine was introduced to the world way back in 1972 and was replaced, still in compact form, in 1976 by the Mk300 which featured a silver facia with a blue stripe. Subsequent to the Mk300 Servis returned to the familiar brown.

I have attached an image of the machine taken from the 1974 John Noble catalogue.

This machine is of ultra importance and is a match to the brown dryer owned by Chestermike - I think he would be really interested to see this advert!

Here's hoping someone takes the plunge.

Cheers
Paul

These were sold in AU as a Wilkins Servis front loader. I think they were assembled here at the Wilkins Servis factory in Elizabeth, South Australia. The dryers were sold here too and were more popular than the washers - you still see the dryers occasionally. I haven't seen one of the washers for years.
I bought one second hand in about 1983, it leaked badly so the dealer swapped it back for a Hoover. The Wilkins had a Hoover motor in it, though I believe later ones had something more like the smaller GEC-Hotpoint motor.

Chris.
