40" Hotpoint Stove

I thought this was really unique in that it has a built-in Salt Shaker in addition to the double electrical outlet. Those kind of things always got my attention as a child.

Kenmore 60's dryer

looks like the console is in good condition. must not have had alot of use. Dryers always seem to last longer.

the dial, seems BOL, no push to start button. all cycles are timed dry. no surprise I guess.

GE 30" stove with side push buttons

I have never seen this before. The buttons are on the sides. That doesn't seem very safe to me. That would be the most likely spot to spill something. plus there is controls in like 4 places on this stove.
But it is still fun .

I have never seen this type of 2nd level wash arm in a GE before. I just remember them having the power tower. Even my parents TOL 1985 electronic dishwasher had a center extending power tower.

60s' GE top Frig.

I took pictures of the inside which had alot of blue shelving, but it was right before the memory filled up so I lost it.
It was interesting the large long magnet that was used to hold the doors shut. This was before they put magnets in the rubber seal.
I guess company management had a problem with stories of children being carelessly locked inside older models when playing that had an actual mechanical latch and were abandoned and then dying because of the smell of rotting jello and lard. ? hah ?

I'm really getting into the pink thing.
This oven doesn't look all that bad either.
I like the large, flush knobs for adjusting the temperature.

A Lot of Pictures

That was a great picture of the Hotpoint Automatic double oven. My grandmother had one. Each heat level had a different color and did you notice the "sealed" heat ovens. The oven elements were below the bottom of the oven. Anyone who had one of those babies hated to ever give them up. They were quite expensive for the time. One plug was connected to the timer and the other plug was not. You could set the timer to work with either oven. I just saw one at an antique mall in Carmel Indiana and they had a price tag of $3400.00.

Great-looking filter flo! And the GE range is nice, too. Put an oven overhead, and prest-O, you've got an Americana.

What year if the G.E. washer? It is from the 70's but I'm wondering what year. Do they put the date somewhere on the machine?

Thanks for sharing the photo's! Always fun to look.

I would say that GE FF is very early 70s, that Suto Soak was for enzyme presoaks. And the PotScrubber II, yep, Andrew is right on. Those were awesome designs. weren't around very long, dont' know why. I wish they'd kept the separate wash arm desig insted of going back to the tower. And I love tht adjustable top rack. In fact that particular dishwasher was the model installed in the new house built next door to our lake house, putting it about 1973 1974 at very latest. A friend of mine in college, his parents had the same dishwasher. Woud love to have that self-clean GE range, vey cool.

20" gas stove 1950's?

peteski50's profile picture
I had almost the same exact 20" Wincroft stove in my apartment before I did over the kitchen 6 years ago. Mine had a black center top. The knobs were somewhat different. It was well made. When I was first going to remodel I was going to keep it and paint it red. It would have gone good with the black and white design I did. But after being rushed and with the cost of what it would have been I decided to just replace it with a 30" kenmore.

GE dishwasher potscrubber late 70s

peteski50's profile picture
This was a awsome dishwasher. I don't understand why they didn't stay with the upper wash arm. Their was about 3 or 4 models made like this. At the time I thought this design would be the wave of the future. But GE got stuck back on the tower. It's amazing how when some of these corporations make something good they go back and downgrade the product.

Those Potscrubber II's were quiet too. My cousin had one, the TOL unit, and it was a great cleaner that you could hardly hear running, unlike my '77 Potscrubber which would shake the whole damned house.

Does anyone know if any of these appliances still work? Where are they located? Might be worth the trip.

Post# 224433 , Reply# 49   7/22/2007 at 09:00 (6,094 days old) by washertalk ()

Hi, everyone. I forgot to mention that these appliances are available at reasonable cost. If you are interested let me know and I can secure them for you.

They are not reconditioned. As you can see in the pics they are simply trade-ins or something. I know one of the stoves, I think the 30", is tested and one of the front burners is out. If you are interested in anything pictured here I can take more pics of the sides and insides etc. so you can see more exactly what is there. I can ask questions and find out exactly what you want to know.

Send me an Email about what your interested in, where you are, and I will do my best. I would probably list the item on my Ebay account and you could purchase it that way.
I did this once before for someone else here in the group and it worked out great. I don't deliver though, but I would be happy to secure the item(s) for you and arrange for shipping/pick-up. And who knows maybe have a chance to finally meet a real life AW.org member in person.

That Kenmore dryer was not the BOL, hard as that is to believe. There was one model below that, which had only one timed cycle, no Perma-Press settings, no switchable heat setting. We had one from about 1965 or 1966 until I left home. The console design was the same, though.

That was the HOTTEST dryer I have ever seen; Lord help you if you left things in it too long. It could bake wrinkles into Perma-Press that took another wash and another dry to remove.

The GE range with the side controls was great! That is until my cat jumped up and turned it on burning my house down to ashes!!!!

I had the pink over under 30 inch Americana and due to no counter space,I'd keep my Mr.Coffee on the front right(Sensi-Temp)burner.One hot summer day in 1995,I left my Hollywood,Fl.home to go and make a bank deposit 3 blocks away.As I was biking home,I noticed the fire department had trucks in our alley and saw smoke pouring out of my house!!!Two of the fireman were giving my 4 cats oxygen and the roof collapsed starting to feed and develope even more flames and smoke. The firemarshal showed me the pressed in button(8")saying that was the cause and I knew I didn't turn it on but remembered "kenmore",my cat had a bad habit of jumping on top of the stove to catch flies. This time,he went too far and landed on the pushbutton .People still,to this day don't comprehend the removal/otlawing of push button controls.I am sure Ralph Nador had a hand in that decision.

I really wish I was in your area- that G.E. range is a real find. It's very TOL, with P*7 self-cleaning, and the sensi-temp burner up front. As much as I'd love to have a 40" G.E. range, I could be very happy with that 30-incher.

Great find, and I hope that someone who appreciates it gives it a good home.

These are all wonderful items. Don't think I've ever seen an RCA Whirlpool oven from that era, very nice styling. I remember those GE ranges well. Laundromat, I'm so sorry about your fire. I had no idea the pushbutton controls had been outlawed; I just assumed they were just discontinued for whatever reason.

Bob, I'm glad you pointed out about the dual washarm in the GE dishwasher. It would have gone right over my head. I knew most GEs had the dreaded tower, but I never knew they made dual arm models back then. Too bad they didn't stick with it! I seem to remember some GE machines from that era that I thought were pretty good. I think we had one like it in home ec. Now I know why!

The wonderful washer is a later version of those I got to enjoy yesterday at Mike's!

I think that Whirlpool oven was manufactured by someone else (Preway? Caloric?) rather than by Whirlpool...they weren't terribly strong in stoves/ranges in the 60s and probably had only a single line...outsourcing all "weird" stuff like wall ovens.

I stopped back to get prices on some of these things and get a few.
They want $100 for each of the 2 40" ranges. The Westinghouse is "working and is clean" they didn't say anything about the Hotpoint.
They want $50 for the 30" GE range. Tested and one of the front units is not working.
$25 for the Stainless Steel DW.
$100 for the pink oven. I think I gotta have this eventually.

The kitchen center he wanted $200 for, I got it for the Avacodo refrigerator for $50
they also have harvest gold range hoods. and kitchen cabinets by Youngs Town kitchens. Sorry for the bad pic quality
