This little gem came from column 8 in the SMH today Gotta love Miele....

"A friend from Greenwich with four young children was shocked to see the display on her Miele washing machine," writes Ed Smith. "It was flashing 'SLUT, SLUT, SLUT'. After consulting her husband and nanny in disbelief, Miele service was called. It turns out that slut is Danish for 'finished'. Apparently one of the boys was playing with the machine while he was enjoying some 'time out' for bad behaviour in the laundry and lucked upon this marvellous language change setting for the machine."

Let me try that again :)

It is true, my W2888 can be highly offensive when in dangerous hands.

Slut

Yes, as Danish is a Germanic language, too, it means the same as the German word 'Schluß/Schluss' (both ways are possible).
'Slut' has to be pronounced 'sloot' and so sounds already a bit like the German word 'Schluß/Schluss' which is pronounced 'shlooss'. Both mean 'End'.

Cheers, Ralf
