The technical term is "Control Magnet Assembly" It is used on Whirlpool built belt drive washers. It magnetically pulls a plunger up and down to move cam bars that shift the washer in and out of agitation and spin. It is mounted on a stud of the tranny gear and moves back and forth to move the cam bars in and out. Does that make sense?
