My circa 1989 washer has an electronic touch-pad membrane control panel (no manual timer).
Lately, about half of the time, the washer will enter into the final spin cycle (after the final rinse), and proceed to spin indefinitely (hours!) until we notice it and push the panel's Off button manually.
When doing this, the normal panel lights are not lit as usual, and the "AU" (automatic) indicator under "Time Remaining" will only be half-lit.
Any clues? Somewhere else in the Deluxe Forum (Thread 7415) I read the board has its own diagnostic routine (instructions maybe bundled inside the top panel?) and that running this sometimes clears up problems.
Any help appreciated...all this spinning is making us dizzy. :) Thanks

You could try unplugging the washer for a few hours (or overnight) to see if that helps it to clear up. For some reason, I have seen this work on electronics before - almost like they forget their troubles... If that works, you might want to add a single outlet surge protector in between the washer and the outlet. Lightning storms and power surges can wreak havoc with electronics.
