Check out this old Maytag wringer...it has an aluminum agitator...must be pretty old and looks in good shape. You see a lot of these on Ebay...but I've never seen one with the metal agitator.

aluminum agitator

I have a late 30's-early 40's Commander Washer with an aluminum agitator, and I think the Master washer in the ad is of the same vintage. Don't hold me to this, but I don't think Maytag switched to plastic or Bakelite for the agitator until after WWII.....

My parents had this Maytag with an aluminum agitator....probably purchased around 1945. It was still in their house when the house was sold in the mid 90's, and was still in working condition. Also in working order was an avocado green KA Superba portable DW in excellent shape.

Wish I knew about all the collectibles back then when they were at my disposal.

It looks bigger than the grayghost machines but is the wash capacity bigger?
It amazes me that Bendix automatic washer was out 10 years already and Maytag was still pushing these machines as their main line..

I hear that they are going to kill the Neptune project.

"The Neptune Project" -- Is that a little like the Manhattan Project? Bringing pain and suffering to the masses ;-)

I wrote this person about repair manuals and he said there would be more vintage products show up in the coming weeks

Might be a good idea to keep track of this to see what he has
a rare washer might pop up for a member.
