I have seen a FL F+P advertised with 1200rpm spin and ?6.5kg capacity. Who makes these? Are they any good?

Fisher & Paykel, obviously. I cannot provide you with further information unless you provide a link, pictures, videos, etc.

These machines are rebadged Beko. (Made in Turkey.)

I would not touch one.

Chris.

Well, Fisher & Paykel have stuff in Australlia that we don't have in the USA. They have those Front-Loaders, They have a version of the AquaSmart machine that only has buttons and no LCD display simmilar to the EcoSmart, and they have standard no-drawer dishwashers.

The F&P Relationship carries on with Whirlpool in AU

Hi Peter,

Fisher and Paykel only make the TL washers, the dryers and Refridgeration (Possibly the Stoves and ovens) The non dishdrawer Dishwashers are Whirlpool and as Chris says, the FL washers are also rebadged.

The neighbours of Michaels mother, have just replaced their Hoover Zodiac with an F&P frontloader, and are very unhappy. The shortest normal cycle runs to about 1:20. Michaels mother takes great delight in reminding them, that if they'd bought a proper machine, like her Miele, that it'd be done in 40mins. :)

I just bought my Mother the new Entry level Miele W1511, and compared to the featureless entry level Miele of old, its a great machine. The cost after the water rebate is $1299.

Regards

Nathan

What about the DishDrawers? They are made by Fisher & Paykel but are also avalible in the Kenmore and Kitchen Aid brand names. Also, the Front-Load dryers are rebadged GEs. Yes, the stoves and ovens are made by Fisher & Paykel.

FunGuy, Kenmore drawers are a different design that are not from F&P.

The Kenmore Draw Dishwasher are not manufactured by F&P they where sourced by maytag before the buyout.

So the Fisher & Paykel DishDrawers are thier own design?

Funguy - Stop Generalising

Yes the Dishdrawers are designed and made by F&P.

The Australian FL F&P dryers are NZ Designed. They have nothing to do with GE. F&P created the design back in late 70's and with a few refinements is still in use today. The design was also used in the Australian Hoover and then Westinghouse dryers up until the Hoover name died and the Westinghouse dryers started being made in Korea.

Have a look at the link below.

In a press release from a few years ago, F&P stated that they weren't interested in developing/producing front loading washers. They did not see a future competing in that product category, as their traditional markets primarily demanded top loaders. Instead they would continue to concentrate on developing products in line with broader consumer tastes.

Their re-badged front loader line-up isn't all that spectacular. I guess they are responding to those consumers who are specifically looking for a F&P branded front loader, without having to develop an entire new range of appliances.

F&P News.....

F&P have just announced a joint venture into the European markets with a Turkish manufacturer
Fisher & Paykel Appliances plans to greatly increase its European sales through a partnership with a Turkish whitegoods manufacturer and distributor nearly six times its size.

The newly signed strategic alliance with Arcelik Corporation will enable distribution of FPA branded appliances in Eastern Europe, Commonwealth of Independent States (former Soviet Union members), and the Middle East through Arcelik's network.

The deal also gives FPA access to some of Arcelik's products, such as front-loading washing machines popular in Europe, which FPA does not make. The products would carry the Fisher & Paykel brand.

The current FP FL machines are Turkish, Arcelik make Beko branded washers.
I have seen Beko / Arcelik front loaders branded as Beko, Hoover, LG and now F&P.

A friend of mine has an "Altus" washer, which is also a rebadged Beko.
I have seen it run one time and I think it is an excellent performer.
He has only a basic 5 kg, 1000 rpm modell but it washes and rinses very well and is relatively silent.
I think it was a real bargain for 199€

Beko

Not all Beko (indeed, not all Turkish) products are bad.
And I really think we should all curb our tongues a bit. The gods know I can be rude and unthinking at times...but I am trying to be less so.
If I wanted to read a nasty, spiteful site full of cattiness, I would just trot on over to Vacuumland...

Speaking of F&P, I saw their top loading dryer the other day when I was picking up a big box of Persil. Very interesting design... sort of liked the "lint receptacle", but have no idea how well the dryer works. Now all they need is a top loading H-axis washer to match :-)

Post# 240832 , Reply# 19   10/7/2007 at 06:47 (6,017 days old) by funguy10 ()

The Top-Loading dryer is known as the "SmrtLoad" dryer. It is avalible in both electric and gas forms. The dryer apparently has a blower 2x more powerful than a normal dryer. DADoeS maentioned somewhere that the first time he used his SmartLoad dryer, it blowed the accumulated lint inside his dryer vent all over his back lawn! The lint bucket is the disposal for the self-scraping lint filter. when the filter accumulates lint to, I think it's 3/8 of an inch, a scaper cleans the filter and deposits the lint into a bucket inside the drum. When the bucket is full, you pull it out, tilt the lint into a waste basket and put the bucket back. You never have to actually touch the lint. The drum has an acess door that closes to seal up the drum when you start the cycle. When you start the cycle you apparently hear noises not made by other dryers as the lid locks and the drum door slides closed and seals closed. As the dryer begins you hear a high-pitched winding as the drum begins to turn before the blower kicks in which is at a higher frequency than regular dryers. The drum reverses every four minutes and rotates in the other direction for 40 seconds to keep your laundry from balling up and let it dry more evenly. When this happens you hear the dryer come to a stop for a few seconds and then hear it wind up again. The very first model of the SmartLoad dryer was the DEGX1(electric) and DGGX1(gas). DADoeS has the DEGX1 dryer with his IWL12 Intuitive Eco washer. It is the proper match for the GWL11 EcoSmart washer. The newer version is the DEGX2(electric) and DGGX2(gas). It has a Gray control panel instead of the Blue/Green colored on and it is the match for the GWL15 EcoSmart washer. The correct match for DADoeS's washer is the DEIX1(electric) and DGIX2(gas). The current version is the DEIX2(electric) and DGIX2(gas). That one is the match for the IWL16 washer. It is known as the Intuitive dryer. The newest version of the dryer is called the AeroSmart which has a complicated model number I do not know. It has an LCD display and is the match to the AquaSmart washer. I finnally got a look at the AquaSmart/AeroSmart pair last night when i saw them at Lowe's! I must say that they have the best looking control panels. Also, the AquaSmart washer has a washplate instesd of an agitator. I don't know the chances of Fisher & Paykel coming out with a Top-Loading Horizontal-Axis washer but there is another USA brand of this kind of washer. Not well known but existant.
