Hello friends,
My new Speed Queens will be installed Fri.morn, and I am gettin'excited!I chose the FL rear control model with heater and matching dryer. There were not any on display when I ordered mine, but I went today to pay for them they had a front control set on display.I got to get the feel of them, and was very impressed.

Are they laundromat-style machines like Hoover3060's Speed Queen Commercial washer?

Mulls, be careful who you speak to when you say you are excited about a washing machine. It's OK here but a lot of people in the world just don't understand how a man can get excited about a clothes washer.

Congrats!

Hi Tom,

As the recent new owner of the TOL top loader SQ and matching gas dryer I think you'll be very happy with your purchase! These are machines that are built like tanks! They are not complicated either. If I ever go the FL route, I'll be getting a SQ just like yours! Oh, I interrupt this message to go get laundry out of the dryer - it just buzzed.....

Mike

Excited!

Hi guys
Mike, with 7 in the house I wanted the FL for the savings in soap, hot water,etc-although it will take years to recoup.1 or 2 in the house, and I would have gone TL as well.Does your machine spray rinse?
NeptuneBob,you are right!I'm a contradiction.I am straight, and looked at askance(sp) by my straight friends for some of my likes and habits, and by my gay friends for others.Bottom line-let's all do what makes us happy, and let anyone who doesn't like it piss up a rope.
alr2903,Yes the door is still hinged on the wrong side.It caused problems for me,and almost cost them my business-silly.
funguy10,they are supposed to be the commercial machine with buttons.I don't know what other brand names they might be sold under.
BTW,Mike, the simplicity of the controls was part of the appeal of the machines for me.I have a computer,I dont need another in my laundry room!

Count down the days!

Hi Tom,

Yes, our SQ does have a spray rinse on the first spin only. I agree with you on the simplicity. Who needs a 100 page manual just to figure out the cycles and how to wash clothes? OK, maybe a lot of you love the lights, bells, and whistles but not for me. Simplicity works wonders and it's one less thing to go wrong. Like you said about computers - I have an iMac at work with parallels to run windows and I'm just trying to keep up with all the features! I'm sure you'll be doing laundry all night long on Friday! - Mike

mulls thanks my washer is on the right, sorry it wasnt your first pick "the hinges on the right" thing, but thats the one i need to make my space work. Especially since i will never find a Westy with drop down door, the down opening hamper doors, could solve this quandry for so many, Wish they would bring it back for the washers and keep it on the whirly family dryers.

door on the wrong side

To use the SQ I have to put the washer on the right, using long hoses.Thd drain hose is long enough. The bad part is I have to run the dryer vent hose BEHIND the washer!Any potential problems here?
